I owned a BD-P1400, but returned it after a short few months when it stopped reading regular DVDs and not even a firmware could fix the problem. Not to knock the player, but I decided to get another PS3.

I don't think Dragan is considering that option.

I tried the Samsung BDP-1400, Samsung BDP1500 and the Panasonic DMP-BD30. Of these three players I preferred and kept the Panasonic. All Blu Ray players have their issues but in my setup the Panny has been flawless and since I'm bitstreaming to an HDMI switching receiver that can decode the newest audio formats, it was just easy for me.

Yeah, but I was saying I doubted a PS3 was in your plans. A Samsung, maybe, but not something from the Evil Empire.

Unfortunately I don't think anybody can claim to be the ONLY Evil Empire. Too many companies / countries / politicians / etc seem to try way too hard for the title.

I work for AT&T and can say they are truly Evil. Others just mimic evil.

Criterion Studios uses a PS3 in their screening room.

But,..I know Draganm has already gone a few rounds with the PS3 and didn't like it.... still... maybe it's worth another look.
I updated my neighbor's Samsung BD1000 FW twice for him (he isn't real good at burning disc images yet.) And,.. It still hit or miss when he gets new Blu Rays from Netflix. Lots of newer discs just don't work. Of course,.. that was the first of the first players and the specs for Blu Ray changed to much since then.

AT&T ... if you sign up for U-verse, every bit of data you provide them, every bit of data you transmit or receive, is considered to be the ownership of AT&T, and can be used in any manner they wish--including selling it to anyone they prefer.
This isn't me making anything up, but what they wrote into the U-verse Terms of Service, and that service covers voice, video, and Internet. Hence, AT&T Your World Delivered to the NSA, and to anyone else willing to buy it from them.
Now, who else presents such an evil condition as this? Even I refuse U-verse, and I have gotten rid of their Internet and cellular, never had their video, and will be getting rid of land line service.
And I am an employee.

Good info... My wife was starting to crave AT&T and that iphone stuff.
(Maybe getting her an Ipod wasn't such a great idea after all.)

I guess it's a good think they don't make BD players, then!

The LG players lok interesting but more than I want to spend. I will try and score a Panny for less than $150. by X-mas. with so much heavy bidding on these I doubt they will cheap anyime soon.

I seen these BD-P1400's and was thinking the same. I've been upgrading my equipment to get into the new audio formats and the Panny DMP-BD30 is on the list also. If there is that many problems with the Samsung devices, maybe I need to look closer at the Panny devices.
