Hi,
My barco 1209s has lost focus.
Was watching it on a warm night when the picture started to sort of 'shimmer'.
It was going in and out of focus which by the end of the blu-ray movie was bad.
I left it off at the mains for a week and then tried it again. It worked ok.
Again i left it for a week and went to watch a movie on saturday but it was badly out of focus.
When i watch just using only one tube/colour at a time the pic is ok but when you have all tubes on it is out of focus.
I see another member has had the same problem on an ecp 3500.
Was wondering if there are any components on the focus board (if it's that) i can test eg.resistors?
thanks, roy

HV problems. EHT board, quad or HV splitter.

Hi curt,
Regarding your reply can you be more specific with my case as to what i
should do to try and narrow down the cause!
In your reply to the other member you talk about removing focus cables from
a board going to each tube socket. What is that board on the barco as listed
in your barco layout section and do you want me to try this. Also is it from
that board end you remove the cable or the tube socket end?
And can you give me prices for the various parts it could be.
Thanks, roy (uk)

THe way I do it is to have the customer to send me the EHT board and the HV quadrupler for testing/repair. The quad is a replacement only device, the EHT board can be repaired. I'm REALLY short of quads, so I am not selling those at this point unless absolutely mandatory.
If those check OK, then I'll send an HV splitter back along with the two tested parts.
Shoot me an email to curtpalme@shaw.ca for pricing, etc.
Thanks!

Some more news for you now Curt which may help.
Just tried the barco a few minutes ago.
None of the tubes now will come on.
The pj is coming on ok with fans working and the tubes at the neck end have power as i can see them all on with the green lights too.
Even if i select the menu button nothing comes on.
The first time it displayed the no signal logo and the frequency etc but wont do that now either.
It also sort of flashed like a pulse on screen trying to detect a pic.

Check to see if the light is on on the EHT board. I'll bet the set is in HV fail mode now permanently.

Curt
I checked the pj again and this time the tubes have come back on!
I had the pj off at the mains but the pic is still blurred, just not as bad as saturday.
It may get worse if i left it on for a while though.
