I spotted some interesting gear in the Boston CL so I pinged Chip (stefuel) and we just took a ride out there.
It was an 'Estate Sale' (note the capital E and capital S) which translates to "The Most Pretentious Yard Sale You Have Ever Experienced."
There were 40 or so people standing around just prior to the opening, then Lovey Howell comes out to announce they'd be reading off three lists: On-site applicants from the prior day, on-site applicants from this morning, then eMailed applicants (apparently people often email this Estate Broker and don't show up.)
Only after the Insider and Experienced Estate Sale Participants had first grab did the raggedy-assed masses get invited into the place.
There were instructions. "All tagged items are tagged with a tag written twice. Rip the bottom portion of the tag off and bring to the cashiers table for payment."
"Um.... Chipper" says I. "I don't think I can handle these instructions."
I was greatly amused by the whole experience, especially when an Upper Middle Aged woman, all of 90lbs, wearing what had to be $10,000 in jewelery nearly knocked me over (6'2" 300+lbs) to get to a five dollar box of tupperware in the garage.
As I kinda expected, the items that brought me there may have been interesting but I found I had to leave an offer 10% of the asking price.
Some got a reasonably good deal on some (non-electronics) stuff... The house was in a swanky ocean-side location and there was boating, fishing, and scuba gear that went cheap, as well as some tools and things. Anything electronic was priced 3 - 5 times greater than fair market value.

I do a lot of yard sales, it's always a mad house when they first open, I try to avoid the crowds. Sundays, the last day, is cool for estate sales, it's half price day. Have not scored on a G90 yet
