In my current speaker setup I am using in wall speakers for the fronts and center. I will be installing a pair of x-cs's to take the place of the fronts and will be upgrading my in wall center. I do not have any space below my screen and limited space above the screen for the center so I cannot go with another x-cs. I also do not want a speaker sticking out above the screen. My question is if I can or should do anything with my in wall fronts? Is it possible to tie them in with the center to use all three speakers for the center channel? If it is possible would I want to? The in wall fronts are middle of the road quality with 8" woofers and I believe 3" tweeters. My new in wall center will have specs similiar to the x-cs. Should I just tie the in wall fronts to the "B" speaker channel in the event I should ever want to use that channel?

You should keep all the fronts the same type of speaker to keep a nice smooth transition from right to left and vice versa, they should be really be the same speaker. The timber of the speakers need to match exactly for that seamless pan of sound across the screen. Cant you mount the a new center from the same line of speakers as your main L R on the floor below the screen facing up a bit to the seating position. this is how i have nine now.

There is no place to put a center under the screen. I have a built in chest unit directly under the screen and do not want to cut it up to fit a speaker into it. I also have limited space above the screen so I need to stay with the in wall speaker.

So you have an accoustic transperent screen i assume?

Do the x-cs series make an inwall?

No I have a Wilsonart screen. I have space on the sides of the screen for speakers just none below and very little above. The x-cs does not have a recess unit. My main question is if I should try to make use of the in wall Left and Right speakers after I switch over to the x-cs and if so how.

Not sure what to do with the in walls now, you really want the center in the middle as it carries most of the onscreen infomation. Is there a way to maybe cut out the ceiling above and having the recess angle toward the seating and putting the speaker up into the cavity angled the same way? This would work if your floor/ceiling joists run perpendicular to the screen then you can make the angle more gradual.the speaker would have to only be no bigger than the 12 inch of the joist spacing. tuff situation you have, what did you do for center channel before?

I currently have an in wall center channel mounted above the center of the screen. I am upgrading this speaker to a better speaker so I am set on the center channel speaker. It just will not match my left and right speakers. I was checking to see if it would be possible or desirable to also use the in wall left and right along with the center channel speaker to have all 3 function as the center speaker since I will have 2 new surface speakers to be used as the left and right channels.

Perhaps your AV/Receiver has a "Phantom" or "Virtual" center setting? Most/many do.

That might be a better option than the in-wall center - it's worth trying. That way you'd be timber matched across Left, Center, and Right.
