There is no custom output timing option, like the VP30/VP50/VP50PRO have, on EDGE

Nor any test patterns or color management but what a superb piece of kit for the price!

I've applied for beta testing specifically to partner it with my Pioneer kuro plasma

Damn. If only it had 1080p 48/72 - it would be a PERFECT CRT companion. I don't really custom timing, but 48/72hz output would have made it a no-brainer. Damn!

Without custom timings, you can really waste your raster.

I have a feeling thanks to some cheaper alternatives like AVRs and Gefen scalers, prices will be coming down. I saw a sale that had refurbed VP50s for $799 after a $100 coupon. Of course, I saw it the day after the sale ended.

I've got the 1080p 60" model, best flat panel picture I've ever seen so far.

Have to agree with Gino, I bought the 50inch a couple of weeks back and it is without doubt the best flat screen I've ever seen. Beats the high end Sony LCD by a mile.

Thats interesting because that was going to be my other choice. Being an avowed sony guy (and a shareholder) i was looking at the lcd's . I like the picture but i still would see motion artifacting. I guess its because of the slower rate between lcd and plasma. This is giving me something to think about. Also do you guys think this unit will benefit from having an external video processor???

I use mine with a Lumagen Radiance, but in all honesty the Pioneer is fine on its own. The pioneer handles 1080p24 pretty good, and it has its own CMS. I've just got the Radiance in the chain for convenience and to fine tune to get a perfectly flat D65 response.

You've got a 5k processor in the chain just for "convenience"? Dude, you are my idol!
But to tell the truth i will think about a processor as well. Though i haven't seen a lumagen in action, I'm leaning toward a dvdo.

Not like that, convenience being that it has 2 HDMI outputs, so all my sources are connected to it, then I can watch them via the Radiance on either the Pioneer or the Blendzilla.

I mean is the blendzilla a full scale video processor? Does it need the radiance in the chain or would it do that processing on its own?
Sorry if i was unclear.
