Try to set up my BG800 with a Samsung Direct TV receiver SIR-TS360. The receiver has Sub-D output. It also has Resolution selection (480i/p, 720P, and 1080i). When connecting to the Barco, I can only get 480i/p resolution, when switch it to 720P and 1080i, the image disappears. The Barco said it has no input signal. Don't have any problem when connect this receiver to LCD TV. Please help......

You may need a negative sync signal for your Barco to display 1080i or 720p.

I have the same setup in the form of a retrographics projector.
You need an Extron RGB interface that can plug into the TS360 and convert the synchronization signals to to negative polarity.

Search for "Extron RGB negative sync" here and you'll find model numbers to consider.

Thank you Heywood and Brooklyn. Someone (from other forum) mentions port 3 will support positive sync. But I think port 3 will not have better quality as port 5, right? I haven't try this yet but will give it a try tonite.

Port 3 may have better quality. From my experience with port 3, you may still need a negative sync signal. Overall, Barcos like negative sync better. And extron boxes are relatively cheap(try to get one without required local monitor output). You can buy a port 3 -> VGA cable on the HD-fury section of this site.

Port 3 reportedly supports positive sync, but that may be generation specific (i.e. my BG801 projectors may support positive, but your 800 may not.
For in the vicinity of twenty dollars US, you can have an Extron and use it to solve several problems (or potential problems.)

eBay. The used market for them is the $20USD price point I was referring to. Search here for model numbers, most (but not all) Extron RGB interfaces are appropriate.

Here's some more details on extron boxes. Models 108 or 120 or 202 would be best.

Port 3 won't work on a Barco 800. It's too old.

See: http://www.curtpalme.com/Barco_Port3_Input.shtm

Another option is something like the RTC2200 or Box1040. They'll also give you a much needed gamma boost.

Can anyone help with tuning the focus for this Sony set? Can get the EF to fine tune it neither. Green tube has a slight burn (8.5 out of 10). Other tubes are perfect. Thanks.

Many thanks to this forum. I've bought an Extron RGB 158xi for 40 bucks from Ebay. Hopefully it will solve my problem.
