I sent a 1292 remote to a buyer and he says it doesn't work. It worked fine with a 1272 when I had it, but now he says it doesn't function at all. Is there some kind of setting that needs to be done to the 1292 to get it to recognize the remote?

If you misplace the big top cover the IR sensor is not behind the IR window.
Also the IR print on the 1292 could be damaged, the rear one could be cracked by the cover when someone misplaces it ...
The connectors of the IR sensors could be loose or misplaced also.
On the remote the red led should light when pushing a button.
The best test is without covers.
