Hi everyone

Upon powering up my Ampro 4000 to watch a movie tonight, the projector does not seem to sync well to the source. Even when changing from my hd dvd to my set top box,the projected image just keeps on rolling up and down constantly. It was working fine yesterday. Any ideas what might have happened?

Hello. How do you have it hooked up? 4 wires RGBS or RGBHV?

I combined the sync via BNC T. My cable is 5 wire rgbhv. I unplugged it and replugged everything but that did not change anything. I forgot to mention that this has happened a few times before but, just shutting it down and re powering always solved the issue. This time though, it's a no go.

It could be a bad RGB card, bad V card. I can test your boards if you want.

I've had sync issues on my ampro 3600 when changing from my to HDTV cable box to my Wii. I use an Extron 202xi and RGBHV to switch and I can resolve t by toggling between the two sources. The 480P from the Wii seems to be a problem. TSE said that a jumper on the RGB card could help with sync using RGBS, but I don't remember the specifics.

It took a little digging, but I found Scott's (tse) sync mod for 2000/4000 models back in the AVS archives. See posts 16 and 26 for specifics. I did the mod on my 4200 with the same problem and it worked.

Here's another link to the the 3600 / 4600 LK5 jumper mod. See post #3:

Hey guys.
Sorry for the delay in replying. I kept the info given here so if I run into the problem again, I will give it a shot. I do not know if this could be the cause but, the day I lost sync, we had a severe storm down here. Winds strong enough to overturn big rigs (which it did). The next day I posted this, started the pj and everything has been fine and keeps on working since although, it has happened before, but only briefly. The only thing I noticed now is, whenever I turn the projector on, it is very dark; almost unwatchable. It takes a good half hour for it to achieve a acceptable brightness level. But this was not on my dvd player. This was on my cable box. Don't know if this has anything to do with it! If it happens again and I can't fix it, will definitely send you the boards Curt. Thank yous for your help.
