I am having a problem locating a voltage leak in the hv system. I am hearing a hisssing coming from the hv around the splitter area. I have replaced all of the leads coming off of the tubes and removed the old vinal tubing off of the hv power supply and replaced it with surgical rubber that is an 1/8 inch thick and still get this hissing but cannot find any arching. I have tried multiple splitters and nothing seems to work. I find that if i put a rubber pad under the splitter it gets better. but does not stop then i put a large piece of wood under the splitter with the rubber and am still getting the hissing. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
John

i thought about that if i disconnect the tubes one at a time the hiss is still there no matter what tube is last. as long as I have hv moving and it seems to be coming from the splitter i will try and see if i lift it up high away from metal on a book or something. and let you know what happens

have you made sure your leads are inserted into the splitter the whole way?
also, i know this sounds stupid, but try swapping leads around in the splitter. i had a smiliar problem and when Cliff was over, he swapped the leads around and it worked. really strange. when putting the leads back, the hiss came back. beats me but i'm not complaining.

I have tried that and same problem I don't get it I even used a known good splitter to dbl check and still the same thing. if i put a book under the splitter and get it far away from the pj it seems to quiet down a lot but still there so it must be in the splitter ????? I have no idea any more is the splitter nothing more than a distribution point? Why is there an in marked on the splitter what else does it do?

I know that but is there a diode or something in the splitter that could go bad ? I thought they were just traces that are potted?
