I get a HT snap from my Barco 1100 after it has been running for a few minutes. The snap resets the system to its start up image. I have tried to spot the snap figuring that there should be some sort of visible spark but can't see one. Rather than continue to short the set I thought I would ask for help.

If it really a Barco 1100 or 1101, it has the SD146A tube, and they are known to go (dead) instantly and whithout warning. You might have a tube on its way out, and as the shortage is inside the tube, that can be difficult to see. Sometimes you see a nice purple or blue corona in the neck, that is a nice spectacle.

If it is a shortage on the outside of the tube, remove the top metal housing of the tubes and see (in the dark) if you can spot the spark. Find it out quickly, these scenario's can easily take out other boards, such as the Hor. and. Vert. defl, as sparks easily fly into the yoke. Speed is required here!

If the ark was inside the tube would you hear it. Its quite a lively snap. I have seen the colored light show but that is usually after it stops working altogether.

Connect only one tube in turn to the EHT to isolate the faulty tube and take it from there.

I have only run this set for a few hours while I have been putting it together and if this is a tube about to go then that would make three. At that rate how does anyone run one of these PJs? Is there anyway to stop them destroying tubes?
