Just aquired a bd800, how does it compare to my 1252 im running now? anything i need to know about these units?

Almost identical in performance, but the BD800 has a LOT of mods that should be done to prevent premature tube failure. I like the setup menus of the Barcos better than the Sonys, but the tubes and lenses are identical. When new, the 1252 had slightly sharper tubes, but after 3000-ish hours of run time, they all are about the same.

heres a few pics, i accidently "zeroed" everything back to midlevel across the board so the convergense is a little wack. Colors dont look right on pink foam board by the way, so scratch that one off the possable diy screen material list!

more pics... the controller has 3 RGB-HV inputs and 5 s-vid/composite inputs. I dont see an easy way to take the lens off to check for tube burn but i cant see any with a flashlight, but it has a wopping 37k hours on time!! Curt, any pics on how to remove the lenses?

oh, ive got the mount system too, minus threaded pole!

4 bolts one in each corner of the lens. Get rid of the RCVDS, you won't need it.

i'll check for the bolts again.. Is the controller garbage? I figured the cards would be worth something!

The problem is, they do not work as a standalone unit, and if you unplug the 9 pin umbilical cord incorrectly, you smoke the SMPS in the projector. Interesting idea, dumb design. Get rid of it!

Image on the back of a garage door, wow that brings back memories that was how I tested my BG800 first. It had a great 720p & 1080i image. Yours actually has the cover over the CRT's thats somewhat rare, it seems like most were missing that part for some reason.

ok, heres some pics of the tubes, with and without flash... how would you rate these? This must of been in stand by all the time! Curt i noticed some very thin washers on the lens post. two of the where still stuck to the lenses so i pulled them off to put back on the threaded studs but there isnt a washer for all the studs. I dont see any on the floor. Are these needed on some positions but not others to aid in lens/tube alighnment? I didnt pay attention to the position they where stuck to whaen i removed them from the lenses.

Looks like there is some wear in the blue, but its nice large area so should not be a problem but to my eye they look very good! How many hours are on this set?

Those washers are for the corner focusing, there's a chart on how many washers you need to use depending on the screen size and angle of projection. I usually remove them all if the projector is mounted flat, but save them and apply based on the manual and your final installation.
