Hey guys,

I need your opinions: Now that I cover primaries, secondaries, and advanced colour management in my GREYSCALE CALIBRATION FOR DUMMIES guide, would it not make more sense for me to rename to "COLOUR calibration for dummies" instead?

Can anyone thing of a reason why this would be confusing or incorrect?

You've covered quite a few bases with the guide. How about simply "Projector Calibration DIY Guide" or "Video Calibration Guide for Dummies"?

"Projector calibration" would lead me to think that it covers a whole pile of things including astig, focus, convergence, and so on so not sure that works. When you calibrate your projector you do a lot more than what I have in this guide no?

The more I think about it and when I see other similar guides, I really think it is a "colour calibration" guide (nothing more, nothing less).

Why not the two, Greyscale & Colour Calibration for Dummies, since you go into greyscale first then the colour section next, I like the sound of it too.

I thought of what you said before posting but then I felt like, in reality there are three levels related to getting a projector to display the best picture:

Mechanical adjustments (setup)
Electronic adjustments (setup)
And Calibration

I think you're probably right but in order to come up with a precise name I was sticking with that sort of terminology. In strict terminology, people don't "calibrate" astig. They don't "calibrate" focus nor would they "calibrate" the convergence. I think of "adjusting" the focus, and "adjusting" the astig, etc. So, to me adjusting is part of the set-up process and after that comes calibration to a known standard.

Don't go by what I say though. I'm an engineer and never did too well in Marketing

Good points Picree. You're right. You certainly don't "calibrate" focus.

I do like Athanasaios' suggestion though. Covers everything.
