|
|
i just got digital cable last week, and the HDFury advanced kit.. WOW is all i have to say... my ECP 4100 seems to handle 720p better than 1080i... there's like distortion sh*t on the left side.. like its overlapped or something i don't know, i may be shifting the rasters too much...
but ANYWHO... tonight i'm watching IDF channel on digital cable. not one of the HD channels i think but tonight it starts shutting down on it's own. it did it twice.. second time i left it off. why is this happening? overheating perhaps? would some fans on the top inside help to dissipate the heat? if i could find some way to power them... please don't say it's the freaking power supply or some crap thats not worth fixing... i love this projector .. it shoots a beautiful natural image.

It may be because you have the image shifted so far to compensate for the HDFury's input. Try your fan's first, it may be running hot. However there may be another issue.
Try running S-video into it for a while and see if it shut's down. If not then you may be onto something.

alright i'll hook the svideo up to it.. i can only do it through my line doubler though being that there is no svideo port built into the PJ, didn't know if thats what you meant. i've never had a problem using it with my linedoubler before except from a few pops here and there. tubes shut off or screen just went black for a few secs thencame back on... but never off altogether. the top of the case DOES seem a little warmer at 720p so maybe heat is the factor... will it shut off if it reaches a certain etemp?

I don't think it will shut off. I think something will let the magic smoke out.

If for some reason you can't compensate for the shift (left shift?) problem, the "Box 1020" will fix it perfectly for you.

Of all the sets out there, the ECP has massive amounts of H shift in it via the 'move' command.
When you say the set shuts down, do all of the green lights go out on the back of the set? If so, the power supply is shutting down. I'd suspect the Dallas chip or the power supply itself. I don't think the ECP has any thermal sensors in it to turn the set off due to overheating.

the lights do go off in the back... except the one light that always stays on... and i don't know which way i have to shift the rasters. but its a LOT. whats box 1020? is that why its shutting off? and if it is a bad power supply, how much do one of those go for? is it easy enough to take the old one out and put a good one in? i know where the power supply is on this set so i think it just pulls out through the front. i don't have any time to fool around with it right now but i'll see if it does the same thing ton ight when i fire it up.. prob will.. it won't fix itself. but is this a minor or major problem for me? like how much $? cuz i'm like a broke college student

The Box 1020 is an external box that goes between your HDFury and your projector to fix the left shift so you can more easily set up the projector.

so is that what is causing my projector to shut down? the H shift? or the power supply?

i don't know if any of you are still following this thread.. i might have to make a new one on this, but my ECP fired up for me one night..only for about an hour though, then shut down.. the "ready" light on the back lit up.. it goes on and off.. sometimes its on, other times its off. tonight it was clicking in the back.. the H/V manual amber lights like flickered... what would cause these symptoms? the dallas chip? or could it be the power supply? which one would be the cheapest to fix?
