hi guys,

as Scott I hope is still trying to solve that mysterious "noise" we discussed some time ago, I have another Ampro question:
I am finally almost ready (today? Smile ) to hang my 4200 up on the ceiling. (I actually built-in electrical hoist, so it hopefully will be easy to bring the PJ up or down as needed).
Here is the question:
I seem to remember somebody saying that Ampros have non-standard scheimpflug adjustment design, resulting in less than perfect focusing (top - bottom I guess?). The way to compensate for it as I remember would be to tilt PJ so that image on CRTs shifts vertically off center.
Which direction? How much?
I would assume it would be better to level it (dropping back of it) as it would also minimize required keystone correction, but I am not sure..
Also, somewhat related: as I am thinking of trying CIH set-up (I have LumagenHDP to do necessary video processing), I wanted to check with you gurus if it is feasible (as somebody suggested in recent CHI tread) to try to use (vertically) half of the CRT face, so you can eventually flip it over and use the other half? It would seem to require such extreme deviation from "normal" installation that I'm not sure if it would impact quality of image negatively...

Thanks in advance for your input,

Kris

The scheimpflug problem isn't that big of a deal, especially for ceiling mount. The bottom of the picture will not focus as good as it should but hardly noticable for video pictures. Table mount, 4 x 3 aspect with computer desktop shows the problem at the very top of picture. To minimize have the projector as straight at the screen as possible. Don't worry too much about it.

Thanks Scott, as always you are THE source! Very Happy
I realize it's minor problem, but since I am doing the whole thing from scratch, I might as well account for everything I know...
