I called DWIN the day before yesterday, and couldn't help but notice that there seems to be no staff there, as the voicemail says to fill out the online form for repairs, or to leave a message. I also emailed them.
No response 48 hours later.
Are they done? Is anyone within driving range to check? I'd be interested in buying out their CRT parts stock if they are out of the game.

I'm a hundred miles away. There must be someone in LA that can check.

Curt
I have a friend that lives in Burbank. He said that he was within a couple blocks of DWIN this morning. He said that he will go back this afternoon or tomorrow and check out the address. I will post as soon as I hear anything.

Cool, thanks! tell him to pass my contact info on, if nothing else I'd like to get a hold of the schematics for the 500/700.

My friend went back to the address listed for DWIN and said that there is a group of older warehouses there that all appeared to be empty. There were "For Sale" signs posted all over the buildings. He said that there was a group of new warehouses on the adjacent property that had the addresses 716-730, but there didn't seem to ba any tenants in them yet. He said that he did not see any signs that said "DWIN"

Curt
I got a short e-mail from my friend in Burbank. I don't understand what the confusion is but he said that he found a "DWIN" sign in the newer warehouse complex that is next to the old buildings that are for sale. He went back today, Saturday afternoon. He said that there was nobody around and the location did seem empty. He did attach a couple of pictures to the e-mail, but my computer locks up during the download. I will try my computer at work, which is a little more robust, when I go in tomorrow morning. Perhaps DWIN does still exist.

Notice the very small sign above the door in dwin2.jpg. It would seem to be a hopeful sign that the sliding metal security door is not closed. I will see if he can stop by sometime during normal business hours.

Do you have some of that software where you push the "Enhance Button" and it creates perfect sharp detailed images from blocks of pixels? I hate that!

My friend went back to DWIN today, Monday. He said that there was a single car in the lot and the door was locked. A lady responded to his knock and she told him that support is limited to using forms available on their website. The techs only come in a couple of days a week. He said that he couldn't see beyond the little front office to tell if there was a workshop or parts inventory.

Well, were/are they realy a "crt institution"? I didn't think they even built them anymore. Also Who even knows how big they even were or are? They could be a real small operation just like TAW was. For tha past few years TAW has been nothing more than a one man show. Internet commerce can be real deceiving.

Well they did make their own sets. That takes a fair bit of engineering/manufacturing. Stuff like coils and transformers were custom made for them.
I was wondering how they got along in recent years as I hadn't heard of many of their digital sets being sold.

They were selling their DLPs into the custom installer market. Pretty much trying to compete with Runco and use that type of model. It seems like there are only enough suckers in this world to support 1 scam company of each type in the space (e.g. Runco for equipment, Moster for cables, etc).

I know what your saying about Runco, but I don't put them in the same league as Monster.
As for Dwin, does this matter to anyone other than Curt and the two other Dwin owners? Now that Steve has ditched his Dwin are there any vocal Dwin owners out there?

$6000 for a black paint job and a 12v trigger--you don't think that is the same kind of scamming Monster does? I'll grant you, they don't do the legal bull**** of Monster, but the business plan is the same: artificially inflate prices and sell to the uninformed.
