Not sure how on-topic this is, but wasn't sure where else to put it.

I snagged a couple of Extron thingers at a price too good to refuse. However, I'm not sure what I've got!

I know that one's a splitter and one's a switcher. This seems obvious. So, pictures first:

Switcher front:

Switcher back:

Splitter front:

Splitter back:

Splitter extra!

Notice what the splitter is obviously for. Looks kind of like a Barco Vision 600... Razz

Anyway, my questions are:

(Switcher)
-This thing is RGBS. Any way to make it work with an 808, or will the 808 not love anything but H/V?

(Both)
-They're fairly old. Is the bandwidth there for HT use (ie, 1080p)? Will they degrade the signal? Help it? Make everything I project have polka dots?

I've tested them as far as power up, and their little lights light, and the switcher's lights light depending on which switch the switcher's switched to which.

So, should the splitter split? Splat the splitter? And the switcher - ditch the switcher and switch for a switcher which switches an additional sync? Or sink them both; or keep the two? What do you guys think?

Extrons' website is excellent, with manuals and specs galore. The ADA is an "analog distribution amplifier" and can distribute just about any video signal, up to 400MHz:
http://www.extron.com/product/product.aspx?id=ada2300hv&search=ada%202%20300

The 808 should be fine with combined sync. I can't find anything on this specific model at Extron.com... strangely. There are lots of info on the next gen (also discontinued) of this product, but nothing on this specific model.

Excellent! This should mean I can run my main/gaming computer on the CRT PJ as well as the HT computer, and use the switcher to switch between the two. It even looks like there's software to control the thing, but it's hard to tell whether it'll work with the old hardware.

Interestingly, the projector came with an Extron 'Barco Comm Adapter' which has a 'switcher control input' and apparently connects to the communication remote connector on the Barco. Anyone have any ideas about that?

The comms adapter is used to plug an Extron switcher into a Barco "800 peripheral" switcher port. I think this is only for use with the bigger Extron switchers such as the System 8 and System 10, and maybe matrix switchers.
Look up the manual for the comm adapter.
