today i was going to enjoy a movie but the picture was all purple. looks like the green tube is not putting out as much light as the other two fellows on the sides.

any suggestion to what this can be caused by? where do i start troubleshooting?

thanks in advance

tried to adjust G2 for the green tube, only resulting in getting a greenish shade where everything should be black and revealing some "zig-zak" lines but the objects thate are supposed to be white is still purple'ish. looking into the tubes reveals the green to be emitting light at a lesser intensity then the two neighbours.

one additional thing i noticed is that the neckboard that was on the green tube (now sitting on the red) does not have the green LED lit.

Is the problem there with the internal menus and test patterns? When you swapped the CRT sockets did you swap the video boards also? I think they are attached on the BG808s. Also did you leave the wires attached when you swapped them or unhook wires and reconnect to the different sockets?

So it's bad tube, driver- or switcher board. If you use port3 it could be also bad port3 board, so test port5 first.

Newer tested this method, but I think it can be done without problems. Connect R neck board cable (J1) to G and G cable to red to be sure if it's bad tube. Other option is swap tubes, but that is lot more work.

I'm using the HDFURY with RGBHV input on port 4/5. never thought about trying another port, but i just plugged my old videocamera to port 1 and whomp there it was, picture in all it's natural colors.

What now?

My guess is that you pressed 6 on the keypad, which put the set in component mode. Try pressing '5', is it OK now?

Very Happy
