Does anyone know in what format the video is stored when you utilize the USB output off of the receiver to go to an external hard drive or USB device? Is there a way to access it other than back through the receiver?
Thanks
Dan

Which service?

For Dish it is the standard encoded video stream. Their external hard drive is setup on a per account basis, so you can share between receivers on the same account.

Keep in mind that this in only enabled on the MPEG4 DVR boxes at this time. So you would need a combination of 612/622/722 models to do this.

It is DishTV. I was just wondering if there was a way to pull it off of the hard drive and do other things with the video.

By design--no. So you'll have to search if there are any hacks to do this.
