I noticed when I tried to check the 17v line on my 1209s that the smps board doesn't look like the one in the picture on the tips page. There is no connector that looks like the one shown, but there is a pin marked J36 in that general area. It has 16v on it while running. Anyone else run across this or is this one of those strange Runco oddities? Here is what mine looks like.

Yes but not sure how to send it to you. File size is about 38 Mb on CDR disc.

I'll address this one LAST TIME.

Servicing and selling sets is how I make my LIVING. THIS is my INCOME. I don't have another job. I put out info here for people to narrow down problems to the closest board, at that point you can either try and repair the board yourself, buy an as is one on eBay or send a defective board for me to repair. That's as much info as I put on the site here.

If this were a hobby, a part time thing, or something that I simply could afford to throw out there because I'm a nice guy, then by all means, I'd throw not only the service manuals on the site, but a step by step procedure on how to troubleshoot every component that I've ever seen fail on every board on every set.

But... since the bank doesn't accept mortgage payments via me telling the banker how to connect his stereo and the grocery store doesn't accept website articles and bits of solder in payment, I rely on people sending in boards for repair. THAT'S why the later manuals aren't on the site.

That mini board is some Runco mod. Was this that extra 12V output for screen?

In 1209s 17.5V line are measured between that J36 pinn and chassis ground, when projector is running in standard video signal (about 15.7 kHz) and C/B in mid position.

The set seems to be working fine, I noticed the picture seemed a little dull, like it could be brighter or more colorful. It seems duller than the 1272 did. The voltage there is at 16v. I'll recheck it tonite.
I figured that that was the correct pin, but just wanted to know if someone else had run into the same thing. So this board gets the same as the other 1209s at 17.5v?

If I ever run into something that I can't adjust or do with the info that you provide here on the site I will send the boards to Curt for repair. I spent 25 yrs in auto repair and I know what a mess a novice can make when they don't know what they are doing. Makes much more sense to send it to a pro, and I believe in supporting Curt and the site.

I did not ask Tom W to send me the manual, If I want one for reference, I'll buy one. I agree with your not posting service manuals, that's just crazy. That would be like me letting someone repair their car in my yard with my tools and my expertise, with no compensation for me.
I'm capable of swapping out capacitors and stuff that are obviously bad or need to be updated, but when it comes to diagnosing and repairing other stuff it's going to be Curt. Thumbs Up

Sorry, I had a crappy day yesterday and came in at 11 at night and read Tom's post which set me off.

Trust me, if I was at the user end of projectors, I'd beg, wheedle and bitch too if I couldn't get the s/manual from a site that more or less had everything else out there.Very Happy

I rechecked and adjusted this from 16.1v to 17.4v, with no noticeable difference in picture quality or G2 voltages. What does this setting do?

17V line is used almost in every board and if it's too low or too high protection circuit turn projector off.
I have read that too low 17 V line could also cause spot burn in some 120* projectors, not sure about 1209s though.
