I picked up a Sony Wega Trinitron 37" for $100!

This thing cost a small fortune a few years ago.

Fully function and looks great.

It is amazing how many people are ditching their old sets for new ones now that they "WILL NOT" work after next spring. Most people do not realize that it will not affect them if they have cable.

It is OK because my 11 year old daughter will really appreciate it. Thumbs Up Mr. Green

The big WEGA? For $100?!??! Wow!!!

Wasn't that a 36? Is that the beast that weighs in at 300-odd pounds?

Oh yeah, it was the 40 that was the mother of all CRT's. That thing was like 375 or 400 or something. Whatever... it was an awesome score. $100 is AMAZING!

What's even more silly is that whoever is selling will have to spend at least $1000 to replace it with anything even vaguely comparable. Crazy.

There's also a 32" WEGA (32XBR)... I picked one up locally last week for $150. It replaced the last SDTV in our house. Thumbs Up

185 lbs. Shocked

I sold one to a guy once, he picked it up himself.... he had planned to have two guys help him carry it to his apt, but at the last min they couldnt.... so he carried the dang thing up.... by himself Shocked

The fact that he was the strength coach at a local u, and a former o-lineman @ michigan helped Very Happy

Its not just that they are heavy, but in order to make a flat screen picture tube, the front of the tv weighs a ton... the screen is 2 inches of solid glass Shocked

Paul,
That is a nice score! The great thing about these CRTs is people don't want them anymore and they can't easily sell them on ebay.

My best score (which I will probably never beat) was three Monivision 36" monitor/TVs from the gov. I got them for the minimum plus taxes. I think with gas to pick them up I had maybe $75 into all three. One of the reasons I bought them was to upgrade two neighbors to digital, but neither one wanted them. One is fine with Directv, but the other watches only OTA. For less than $100, I could have gotten her an OTA HD box plus the TV and she would have been fine for 2009. I ended selling them to my friends at Superglass for $150 delivered. This was mostly a gift as they are using them for training and displays.
