My 801 was having vert sync problem last night, the picture frame was rolling vertically, vertical sync was 120 hertz when it should be 61 Hz.So i suspected a failing diode on the v board, but it normalized after wards.

This morning, pushing the main switch on,shorted the 5a fuse on the ac input board, replacing it with the same value, shorted the f2 3a fuse of the same board, also the smps board had a busted cap,the c100.

What could have happened?is the v board the suspect or the bu101 transistor on smps. The fuses shorted while in standby mode, never got to the point of powering it up.

shipping the boards to Curt would cost at least 120 us dlrs from here in Manila,Philippines.Have always wanted to buy from Curt ,but the shipping to and fro is just too costly for me.

Would really appreciate it if someone would help me detect the failing board, this crt hobby can be quite a lonely effort here.i plan to just swap out the V Def board. And replace the fuses and hope that no short comes along.

Check all those 100uF caps in smps primary section. Some of those could been dried out that can cause power transistor or line driver failure.

I have always chanced those few 100uF caps to 105 degree, no smps problems yet...

If BUP101 is bad and you can't find it, you probably can use BU2525 with some resistor chance.

Check also Q100 attachment to heatsink.

Thanks, the pjs up and running, replaced the small ceramic c100 cap,and put in new fuses. The 801 is running normally,i dont know what kind of transient surge would have caused it,the fuses kept blowing one at a time mostly on ac input board, fortunately. Doesnt matter now ,plan to look for a better line conditoner. Thanks again. Very Happy

THanks Ile,i will replaced those 100mF caps with rubicons, the B101 was not affected fortunately,my ac outlet is weird.Maybe because i have the room aircon plugged to it.

Feel great and having fun in this hobby and this forum is the most supportive and fun for me.
