Ive had my G70 for a few monthes now, hooked up to a receiver via componant (ps3, hddvd player and ota hd tuner) all running at 1080i, Ive watched tons of stuff and just watched the matrix last night, I finally got my free sony movies today and turned it on and there are lines on the upper part of the screen and the red and other colors are all over the place, in the warm-up screen and from the receiver. I always put it in stand-by, not power off the main switch. I turned off the main switch to reset it and turned it back on and the same, no error codes or anything. Any ideas?[img]

Well the red is the only one with the issue, it is all wavy. I saw a few other posts but there was no answer or reply.

I'll bet the convergence board is bad. This is very common now with G70s. You also need a green tube. I can repair the convergence board, I've stocked up on parts for them. Shoot me an email if you want to send it in.

Cheers!

i know the tubes need to be replaced, but for now they are fine (till i get some money for rebuilds). The colors are all off right now becase i did a reset, they were fine before, the red is the issue, its jumping all over on the left side, is that the convergence board? Let me realign and get some pics of the red and blue/green. The first shows the red all wavy and messed up and the second shows the blue/green aligned. And again no errors on the machine and no mods.

Well, I pulled the convergence board and pushed it back in, no help, pulled it out all the way and saw alot of dust in the heat sink and blew it out with my compressor and reseated it, its now fixed, but now I gotta re-align everything. Thanks Curt!!!!!
This has really been a crappy week, sick friday night, saturday I go over my parents and notice some kids upto no good in a forclosed house next door, call the cops, go out later to my car and find a broken small window and later 2 slashed tires, and then a ticket on the way home from getting 2 new tires at the only place open sunday, then today the pj takes a dump.

Cool! MY prediction is that it will eventualy fail again. That C board runs red hot, but if it ain't broke right now, don't fix it..Smile

Sucks about the kids, a good baseball shot to the head would have cured that..Wink

yeah) How much does a new c-board run? I'll start saving, there was tons of dust in the aluminum, I think I'll pull the other board and vacume in there also, unless you say don't) All Hail the King of CRT)
