Okay, I have been displaying 1080i and 720p on the pj fine via my dvd player and iScan HD scaler. The picture is fantastic, although a little soft (7" tubes and all that)
I am trying to connect an xbox360 to the pj. I have tried the composite video into the scaler at 480p and the picture is ok, although a bit gloomy in dark areas.
I then tried xbox component video output (via the scaler passthru) and the picture is so dark it is barely visible
I then tried the xbox vga cable and all resolutions above 480p are barely visible.
I have tried using a VGA coupler to connect the xbox to the projector directly and it is still the same.
Maybe is the projector cable too long?
The cable is 40 foot, high quality. I dont have a problem with my other sources, via the scaler.
Maybe has anyone any ideas why the picture is so poor? The only thing I havent tried yet is connecting the xbox directly to the pj using a short cable.
I have tried H shift etc to no avail.

Well, i just made up a short rca to bnc cable to connect the xbox component to the pj directly using a SHORT cable, and I have an awesome picture.
I have had the xbox for nearly a year now and am only finally able to enjoy it. So I reckon the cable driver on the xbox is not very powerful.
Obviously the passthru input on the scaler isnt boosted using the in-built cable driver. Makes sense now.
But I think I need an external cable driver.
My current setup is this:
DVD via SDI to scaler.
Playstation 2 to scaler.
Scaler to pj via 40 foot vga to 5 bnc cable.
I am using the scaler as a switcher so I reckon i should connect the xbox to it and use some sort of device which will act as a cable driver and possibly give me some gamma boost aswell.
Any ideas on what to get to do this. Also, where in the line to put it. I would imagine it would be best to put it after the scaler so this way I can get gamma boost on all devices. Is this possible and is there such a device?
All thoughts welcome and appreciated as always.
Cheers Y'all.

RGB Cable driver and gamma boost? Funny you should ask, there's a new device out that does exactly and only this: The Box1021!
$119 shipped anywhere in the world. Sold by X-vue, formerly known as HDglobal. They have a sub-forum here if you have questions.
See: www.curtpalme.com/Box1021.shtm
For $30 more you can get the Box1020 which also converts to Component if you need it and has some other features. See: www.curtpalme.com/Box1020.shtm
Here's a picture of Box1020:

Cheers Kal. I am now deciding between the box 1021 and the RTC2200. I assume the box 1021 will work with the HD furk aswell.
Also, I am new to this cable driver and gamma boost stuff. I am going for a setup like this:
Xbox 360 to scaler passthru.
DVD via sdi to scaler.
Scaler output to box 1021 or RTC2200.
Box 1021 or RTC2200 to projector.
This way I can use the scaler to switch between all my sources.
Now, the output from the scaler has a cable driver for all inputs except the passthru. This means that the signal from my dvd player to the Box 1021 or RTC2200 has a cable driver (in the scaler) and does not need boosting.
The output from the scaler when using the Xbox is via scaler passthru input (no cable driver). This is where I really need the external cable driver.
If i connect the way I propose to, will the Box1021 or RTC2200 have to be adjusted when switching between dvd (strong signal) and xbox (weak signal in desperate need of a boost)?
Thanks for your help
