I have a Barco 1208 with P16 tubes. When I setup 1920 by 1080p (or 800p) I am getting the "horizontal line of coincidence". I have seen Henry's info from the Uk CRT site regarding the possible correction. He states various setup reasons causing the horizontal line and explains it is actually the overlap of scan lines. If I cannot remove the horizontal overlap with his suggested adjustments, will the overlap cause tube burn/wear at the overlap site?

Thanks,

John

Is your projector alingend mechanically perfect? Not 99% but 100% perfect!
Did you rotate the yoke for horizontal picture leveling?
Did you use markers on your screen for horizontal and vertical centerline on the edge of your screen?
This is enough to get rid of the line of coïncidence.

Which setting is using an extreme value and thus the cause of this line of coïncidence?

The line of coincidence is more annoying than anything else. I doubt it would cause burn in problems over time as it likely drifts slightly over time and shouldn't be super-bright to begin with.

Thanks for the replies.

"Which setting is using an extreme value and thus the cause of this line of coïncidence?"

My projector was setup by a local professional for my 720p/1080i resolution inputs (with no problems) but I am setting up the 1080P on my own. The 1080P setup is definitely extreme, I have used Powerstrip to adjust porch settings to reduce image rollover with the 1080P image. I get a nice picture and can barely see the horizontal scan (mostly right side/bright white background). I am mostly concerned with any tube burn-in and also plan to try Kal's 1080i/96 timings.

If you can barely see it and only see it on bright white I wouldn't worry about it too much. I used to have a Barco 800 years ago on which I simply could not get the line to go away and yes, it was set up properly. I could be that some of the board pots or convergence tray pots were slightly adjusted or had drifted. I didn't bother doing anything about it as like you it was only seen on some very bright scenes (barely) and only for about the first 2 feet on the left side.
