|
|
I am a crt novice trying to get a home theater set up.
Question 1:
I have a Barco Data 800 that had a couple bad boards (eht and SMPS) that I sent in to Curt for repairs. Got it back and started to get set up. Did the internal set up stuff, then started in on the AVIA disc from a DVD Player. It worked ok for a bit then would only show green. Then stopped working altogether. On screen it says "Singnal no longer available" and a red light comes on the verticle board. I have a Helios dvd player w/vga out. I use a vga - rgbvh cable. The same thing happens with an S-video cable. I have tried a new disc. Same thing. What is wrong? Another bad board? Something wrong with my cables or DVD player? (I don't have any other convenient source to check)
Question 2:
I want to ceiling mount the projector on a sheetrocked ceiling without major demolition or expense. I have a low ceiling and a screen that is goes almost all the way up to the ceiling, so I am thinking I want to get it as close to the ceiling as possible so I am thinking that the unistrut/allthreat method that I have seen on Curts site isn't practical. I can locate the joists but can't think of a good way to firmly attach the projector snugly up there. Someone must have figured out an elegant solution to this one.
Thanks,
Pete Licht

OK. Its been a couple days and no replies. I guess one of my questions probably belonged in the Home theater construction forum, so I'll post it over there. How about my first question? Any ideas?

Do the green LEDs on the RGB Switcher board switch as you change inputs? Do they come on at all?

Yes they change when I select a new input.

You can get low profile unistrut that shouldn't eat up more than a couple of inches of height. Should be fine and you'll be able to keep the adjustability. Tilt the back of the projector down slightly if you need to (not too much as you won't be able to compensate past a certain amount with the sheimpflug adjustments).

OK. I just double checked. I can get the green lights to move around on the RGB switcher board when I select different inputs. However, with either the s-video, or rgbvh (via vga) feed, I am not getting any signal. The red light on the vertical board goes on and off. I don't know what to try next?
