anytime your asked to e-mail the seller directyl to find out the "special price" or get "pre approved" it's an obvious scam. It's also against e-bay rules, called "hosting conditions of sale outside of e-bay". They pull these within a few hours of reporting it.

This one hasn't been pulled in a few hours though - it's been up over a day. This one is defintely a scam, but Ebay does have an option that allows a seller to approve the buyer before bidding. It's normally done for more expensive items or items of a more notorious nature (owned by a celebrity, for instance).
