As a former BG800 owner it was one damn nice projector, quiet, great color very descent at 720p & 1080i. My only complaint was the lack of a separate color horizontal linearity adjustment, it could have just been mine though that had this issue, I could never get the red corrected on the left side.

you are a magician! I saw that projector in action many times, and the screen shots are way better than the actual pic! |
Really? I find it's pretty representative of how it looked from the back of the room which is a good 2 to 2.5 times farther way than I'd normally sit (pictures were taken from back there too). When you stand far back everything looks sharper than if you're up close.

Yeah, I bet Kal's 800 was pretty comparable to my 1271 - and my 1271 looks friggin' awesome. Maybe not compared to an XG or G70 (and definitely not a higher-end machine), but it's still incredible what you can do if you take your time and work at setting up one of these lower-end machines - especially with all the great HD sources we have now.

True...we were sitting quite close to your huge screen. It still looked good, but your new projector walks all over it!

Watch how you nail it. It could be like wizzing on the elctric fence but 34000V instead of 220

Wow a 4000G that works. I'd consider it middle of the road, classed below the EM set's including the 8"er's.

OK I finally took a couple of screenshots of my PJ, not very good ones but I will try and do better once I read up on how to use my crappy Samsung S630.
I think my Sony VPH1000QM counts as 'low end'.
The focus problem is from the Xbox when I pause the movie, when playing it is in focus but I can't take a screenshot of a moving picture.
The picture is 2.8 metres wide, when displaying 4:3 ratio the picture is 2.1 metres tall.
Brightness is at full, contrast is at half and colour is at half.
The picture is being displayed on a very rough wall that is painted ghost gum grey, the roughness is because of the type of paint underneath that I think is called statuette or maybe stucco, it looks like the face of a split log, this is done by running a rake down it or using a thickly textured roller to create random grooves in a plaster mixture, it was a popular style back in the 1970's - 1980's.
You would be surprised to know that you can't see the texture of the wall in the picture, if you turn your head onto the side it becomes visible but who watches TV/movies with their head on the side (90 degrees to normal).
One day I will get a 138" - 140" diagonal screen.
