Seen where Curt was discussing one of these on another site and was curious.

Does the following description give a hint to a larger problem about to surface?

"THERE IS A SLIGHT MINOR YELLOW LINE BUT IT IS VERY HARD TO TELL UNLESS YOU LOOK VERY VERY CLOSELY. OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE AMAZED WITH THE QUALITY OF THE PICTURE."

Price is OK, but what's the yellow line?

Horizontal or vertical deflection burn on the blue tube? (green + red makes yellow). If there's a line burnt out of the blue tube, it'll show up yellow on screen when the other two tubes are on.

Deflection burn happens when the deflection circuitry fails and causes the picture to collapses on itself in one direction. Spot burn is when it happens in both directions and you end up with a spot in the middle of the tube.

Deflection burn usually happens on all 3 tubes at once though as the same circuitry is used for all 3 tubes.

Like anything used, you need to see it in person before plunking down the cash.

Price is too high. Especially with a burnt blue CRT. Try to talk them down, or wait until they lower the price.

I've seen Zeniths have scan line burn due to a bad HV board. It could also be that someone is running the set past the worn phosphor area. Tubes are cheap, $200 from VDC, so for $700-ish it's not too bad a deal really, but then again, it's as is, and I don't think anyone will buy it, so you've got room for negotiation.
