Mike | You mean Sony is like a Presidential candidate? Notice I said candidate, not an actual president.

Some of you guys are getting too personal about you opinions of big companies. Not that I don't repect them - they all carry some merit - if you were living in Neverland'.
On earth unfortunately, the corporate conglomerates are uncontrolable systems where they happen to have people carrying out duties. They are in it for one reason - to make profit from which they sell.
You would also be surprised to know how much the Ford scenario is being played out. Major companies own (or at least heavily control) other major companies.
Up in the 30K feet clouds in the ivory towers deals are being spun that the on-the-ground folk will never see.
Aside from boycotting 'forced child labour' companies, take advantage of things that can benefit you as a consumer. For example, who cares if you get another credit card! take advantage of the 100 bucks and free interest and burn the M-FG'n card. Otherwise you'll be waiting for some time before SONY has another competitor. Shame on SONY for pummeling their competition?
And for those that think Gates doesn't control the media field, I think he fueled the whole HD war by "donating" to studios who "coincidentally" took the HD exclusive path. So Sony counteracted up in 30K' land and eventually laid the war to rest.

Of course! You joined about the time I went on my forum hiatus. You have not yet got to know and hate me. Just ask some of the long timers about me.
I was about as anti-blu-ray as they come and close to about as anti-Sony. So yes, it was sarcasm.

The answer I was looking for was "I am not jesting...And don't call me Shirly"
I have been reading though...I thought that maybe just the Zoloff started working.

There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

So I am preparing to drop $400 for a PS3 and I remembered this promotion, which is still going on, and wondered if there was any benefit to dropping $500 - $100 rebate for the 80GB package available in June with the new metal gear game?
I am thinking an 80 gb is more marketable in the future since it will play PS1, PS2, SACD, BR, DVD whereas the 40 GB will only play DVD and BR.
Or...should I just get the 40 GB version and take my $100 savings and buy a Monoprice 4x2 HDMI switcher?
As a side question...does the HD fury GE work with a monoprice switcher?

Greg or is it Mitch?
I don't want to rain on your parade but you should read this thread if you haven't, if you are just planning on 1080i you should be fine.

I only know that the HD fury (no GE version) works with the 4x1 HDMI switcher from monoprice. There is image shifting, though.

No thoughts on the PS3?
I only run 1080i so I am not worried. No HTPC for me at this point...waiting for the software to become better (free!).

I'm using the 4x2 switcher from monoprice with hdfury and it works fine. I only have one display but it works fine when I swap the cable to the second output.

I just went for the 40gb model a couple weeks ago. I figure the extra 40gb and Metal Gear game isn't worth $100 to me.
'Course, I also didn't get the $100 savings because the time to open, hold a balance on then pay off and close yet another credit card ended up not being worth it to me.

But is it the gamer edition?
I have already had issues using an Onkyo 605 as a switcher with the GE. I might have to man up and swap out the GE for a full fledged HD fury.

Are you loaded or what?! $100 isn't worth it to you! Geeze.
I was this close to dropping $400 at BB because I had my $50 GC from the HD DVD thing but decided to see if this deal was still going on.
Now I am questioning whether or not just to get the 80 GB...I am sure I could sell the game for $40 and then get rid of the PS3 if I had to for more than I paid.
Closing a credit card isn't that hard....neither is just letting it sit for awhile as long as there isn't a yearly fee.

Ooo...Walmart is advertising a $100 BR gift card with purchase of a 40 GB PS3 at $400.
Limited to only BR purchases...not sure if it is only at WM or not...need to check further.

Hmm! Where are you seeing that, Greg?
I've been looking for a used 40GB for $300, a new one would be even better....
Wonder if you could buy it with the $100-back Sony card!??
