I have a S-VHS VCR. It was great for recording analog SDTV. You'd pretty much swear it wasn't recorded when playing it back -- that it was live TV. Plus, S-VHS ET allowed you to record near S-VHS quality on cheap regular VHS tapes.

One of my wenches wants me to keep a vcr hooked up in the theater.... she's not used to using the dvr... I have an old mitsubishi s-vhs unit sitting in storage, what do you think? Drag it out and swap it with the pos that's there or just dump her and the vcr? She's quite talented, maybe I'll let her keep a vcr...

You will not get a laserdisc picture out of those component output only DVD. |
That does make good sense. These are a fairly recent acquisition and now that I think about it, I have yet to try the machine with a laser disc via component.

You may have to change the grase in the Mitsubishi VCR if it has been sitting for a while. Becarefull I've been told the grease they used is very toxic.

OUTWEST if you want to see what laserdisc looks like using Component then get one of these, an iSCAN pro Progressive Scan Display Interface, Plug the Laserdisc Players SVHS or Composite (best) in to this and it outputs a Component, Progressive Scan picture.
This little magic Box has breathed new life into my Huge Laserdisc Collection, I can easily sit down and watch a Laserdisc movie now and I love it, looks just about as good as normal DVD.
Cheers

Thanks for the tip. It sounds like a wise move. I do enjoy older movies and have more laser discs than I feel comfortable admitting to!!
