It's just the name brand, those are really big. Some thing in-between
The original and the KOA' s would be good.

The wide body SOIC or the Narrow Body SOIC?
Both are on that Board.

for those that are curious about replacement chips for the fgm.
i just replaced mc34074 with a lme49740 on the blue channel alone and everything is working fine, no odd behaviour zone focus works well and despite the high bandwidth very little to no noise in a full white screen.
so this too is an option if the tle2074 runs out.
just replaced the blue to see if it would work, red and green will be done tomorrow.

edit: full white screen with just the blue lighted.

all 3 done and it works perfect, i have modded the clm so i cannot say how it works with an unmodded clm but i do know the clm mod is needed badly.
i compared a modded clm vs an unmodded and the reduction in noise is quite substantial.
with the ps3 on the moome i have to walk to the screen and literally look for noise in the picture, from the pc vgaout-5*bnc there is a lot of noise but that is generated on the videocard.

to be honest it is really hard to tell a difference between the lme49740 and the mc34074.

Thanks for testing that chip Dennis. Good work!. And I agree with what you said about the CLM mod.

I do plan to try a new version to the one I have posted in this thread. Instead of removing the 100nf caps and adding the 47uf tants. i want to remove the 100nf and under it place a 10nf then the 100nf back and a 1uf tant or film(expensive) then put a 10,22 or 33uf oscon across the chips power supply pins. I have lots of 10 and 33 uf oscons along with 100uf which worked excellent on supply pins on the CMM. the reason for the OsCons is i found they really clean up the Digital hash better than any other type capacitor, beside film. Film SMD's are hard to find and usually expensive and can only be ordered by the 1000's in the sizes I mentioned above and do not take heat well when installing. A cool iron and quick work is whats needed.

that will cost a fortune those oscons are about 2 euro a piece and with over a hundred plus the expensive low esr tants and films you will be looking at 500 euro or so.
just the 47uf works fine for me but i look forward to hear the results from you.

i am a bit skeptical when they are offered that cheap but they might be ok.
i know you had some issues with old caps you got cheap.

Not me, I never had any issues with caps so far i have bought, just using the wrong type of cap in the battery circuit on the CLM and its associated memory chips. There you need to use bi polar caps not polar Tants like I tried.

what inductor would be best to use and what frequency are we trying to filter on the clm?
you said to use 220uh but maybe you or others have changed this value?

ok, here's something new and exciting Very Happy I just got this in for bellows work and maybe or maybe not board work. It's an Accurate imaging 9500LC so I wasn't sure what had or had not been done. IT's not the "super 9- X" model just the basic Accurate 9.

Note: I would never post somebody's else's work on an open forum but this company is no longer around so In my mind it's public knowledge at this point. I don't know who did the original work for them but I seem to remember Chris Stephens who also isn't into CRT's any longer AFAIK. If anyone has a problem with this please speak up (politely).

Basically what I found is that while Accurate did a hell of of a lot more than Vidikron, which basically did nothing. the biggest and coolest thing is the FGM. They added some nice looking Myca caps in the coil driver section. Neatest thing is they're axial caps which allow for more capacitance and voltage rating but still look neatly installed and like they belong there.

All the other boards are 100% untouched but the VNB's had a little bit done, not too much. The bad little blue caps at C1 & 26 were of course replaced and some additional Mica filtering caps were piggy backed over C29 + 30. Notably C1 & 26 are only 14uf and I wonder if that's enough? I remember Scott saying 22uf is perfect here?
What surprised me is that the noisy P14 jumpers are untouched, no chokes or filters were added or wires moved to back side of board. Also, the crappy little Tant at C17 is still there? Possibly an early version of the Accurate 9?

Yep Dragon, that is Chris Stevens work for sure. But in his notes i have of his he used Wet tants, those look like Wet tants not mica Drags. And it is odd that he has 14uf on the VNB's as his original notes say to use 120uf wet tants , i have the part number too. I think they were Vishay brand IIRC.

If you do have the entire Projector open up the HVPS, i know he did some work in there and used a bunch of wet tants in series where the film caps are.
I had a pic of it but lost it somewhere on my HD.

ok, thanks for clarifying. I've never seen either so it's good to know. The smaller caps close to the heat-sink do say "Mica" on them so that threw me off.

I'll double check, maybe tale a close up shot. They also say JAN xxxxx on them which might be a sign that these were possibly military spec'd part numbers?

That is cool they you have one of those though, its a part of marquee Clone History. Id leave the same Caps in there unless you test them and they are leaky. Replacements are super expensive, up to 90 bucks each.

He did use BC philips caps on the other boards, I think it was 560uf on the VIM power rails, and used 22uf 50v on all the CVA caps, 560uf caps inplace of the 470uf on the VDM and Astig amp board. And twisted pair of 1uf cog ceramics on all the op amps on the vim with 22uf across the =/- pins. it mjigth not be exact as this is from memory. Haven't looked at those notes since last year. the notes are the ones given to the assembly crew who did the mods.
