Agree with Anthanaios,
I bought a lot of 10 busted neck boards off Curt, just for the transistors, in case I broke one,

I then removed the heatsink, did all the work, then replaced the heatsink, without damaging anything.
But was nice to have them just in case.

Good stuff there Barclay!! I was thinking of doing the same as you on the P@ connectors but add a cap to ground in there .

Or make a new harness or PBC to plug in between the MB and the P2 with all the filtering on that board.

Then we could use SMD parts to make an LC filter for each harness. Just a thought.

I have been playing with my Marquee the last few days and must say on the brightness front it blows my 9PG away. I MUST get the caps,chips and resistors to do the basic restoration to it though as the picture is not very stable and jiggles a fair bit.

Does anybody have a schematic for the 50-2003-04P HDM they could share? I have 3 schematics for the HMS plus the ULTRA HDM Schematic but not for this older style one it seems.

Also On the HDM there are several 1N4004 Rectifiers I found some 1N4936 Soft Recovery ones that look like they will work.

Also it seems that there are 2 voltage dividers in the circuit as well that I may replace with the LM4040.

James, not sure if those are Soft recovery but I do think they are faster , at least the fairchild ones and Ontario Semi's. Also they have a lower capacitance which is always good.

I can't find the speed of the 1N1004's but I bet there slower than the 150ns of the ones you posted.

Somebody has some work to do! I will start by doing the Maintenance part once those are done I will move on to the Performance Mods.

Started to work om my boards Monday. Back plane boards are finished and I will move on to the HDM and Focus boards once I get more Solder Wick and my new tip set for the soldering station.

First problem has popped up on the VDM. This morning I fired up the projector and heard a sparking/fizzling type sound with a V-Fail light on. I noticed while poking around that the 1U0 cap over R46 was loose when I touched it the sound stopped (I did not change this cap at all). So in the process of working on the board I must have knocked it loose. Sure enough while I was removing the heat sink the damn thing fell off. So I re-soldered the part and put everything back together. I now have the same V-fail light on. Could that shorting have taken out the TL084 chip? The damn thing worked fine last night so I am at a loss other then what I had mentioned. I put in a spare VDM and everything is back to normal.

I have not touched the Chips yet as I was waiting to see if I could get a deal on the BB's to replace the TL084's with.

I did change the Electrolytics, Current sense resistors, 1N4003 Diodes and Mylar caps (except C1004).

IS R46 ok? Also check the reference 2.5 voltage, and r64 and r77.

And the cap itself, but I doubt the cap went poof.

I can't find R46 on the board i'm looking at. Is it marked under the resistor?

I have a VDM/CVA that has an issue too, sending signals that have to be off because they were causing the
convergence timing to be off. The adjustment hump was off to one side and the secrete service menu would not help.
I bet a bad chip here as well.

The Mylar cap that is elevated off the board is on top of R46 and difficult to see as they are paralleled and the cap is way bigger the the resistor.

I won't be home until midnight roughly so it will be late by the time I try this. I might just take the opportunity to replace both the cap and resistor. I am not 100% satisfied with the repair as it is mainly large blobs of solder to hold stuff together.

R46 measured @ 74K5 Schematic states 75K so that's good. I'll have to check the Ref voltages as you said. If not I will be sucking it up and buying Chips. I might just go the SOIC14's and the use DIP adapters. Not the best way but also not $ for the NOS DIP14's that are long NOS now.

I almost ordered them when I ordered the other stuff.

I'm just really wanting to get the BB's and run them in every op amp position.

I can get them in DIP but it's about $40 for 5.

The tricky one will be the VNB's HK Steve did those I think.

Regardless thats just me being difficult. Lol

I Have use the BB 4134's I think, I saw no difference between them and the TLE's. But go ahead and be difficult!
