I can see the headlines now ........... | Quote: | | And now this. Wildfires in southern California started by a home movie. Apparently while trying to watch movies on a wall in his home a local man spontaneously combusted from the intensity of the image and his close viewing distance. |

I'll throw in $50.... but you need to keep them around long enough so I can come down sometime in the next 18 months and see them in person.

Aw sh*t, If Curt wants in we can use my truck, it'll carry that beast, as long as most of my gas is paid for kruger, I'll pay for the oil, It's only 80 miles right? But if you catch on fire while you're playing with this behemoth Curt's gonna be pissed about blowing 50.00 and not getting to see the image this thing makes....and I aint gonna tell him you bot all burned up. I will however put you out if you should ignite, but you better have a dry chemical fire extiguisher handy 'cause there aint no way I'm spraying water anywheres near that 220v Highly dangerous Xenon bulb. I bet if that thing were to blow you could loose an eye or a ball or something. Stop drop and roll.

Hell. I'll even bid .99 cents for the thing. I'll even pay the 0.99. But if I do win it for 0.99 you better take it home after we fetch it. Do we have a deal?

Shipping is $100. I only glanced at the add, but it says pickup only. I didn't see where the shipping price would be waved. I doubt anyone else will bid on these, since these come up fairly regularly and don't sell. There is just not that many people that want to fool with them. Even the people here who have had them have gotten rid of them. I would let the auction run out and offer them $50 in a private transaction (read no ebay:)). It might not be to bad especially if they are correct and one is working. For neighborhood movie night, this just might be the ticket. |
The $100 is to cover the cost of renting the stair crawler to get it from inside to outside of where it is, they said from there on you are on your own.
I would love to get them if they were in Australia (in Adelaide) and set up a drive in (only 1 is left in Adelaide) or get someone to invest in an old cinema that has just gone up for sale in Glenelg (in Adelaide).

Remove the lenses, and you've shaved about 15 pounds off! No problem moving it after that!

Yeah... that's the ticket.... snipe 'em
I would be up for going after these things if we could be sure we had plenty of help getting them into the truck... and out of the truck here at the shop. My neighbor has a forklift, I'm pretty sure we can use it. But I'm pretty crowded in here already. 40yrs worth of packratting! How about putting one in your garage Ray?

It is probably more of a case of,how much money are you willing to throw away on a learning experience and possible "toy". I doubt there is any money to be made.

I'm not concerned with getting any real money out of them, just enough to keep the beer flowing while I dismantle and take pictures.

make that an armored cup.... I have a perfect place to set one up for a night. Big parking lot with big flat block walls on all the bldgs in our industrial park. We could have a one-night drive in. Someone else has to supply the popcorn.

Any knowledge you'd need to know could be told by the guy at AVS thatt has one set up in his theater, instead of killing one just to see what males it tick.. He has pictures also the last I knew.
These would be awesome for anyone interested in a HUGE screen setup. If they weren't in California, I'd do my best to try to snag them:( I have a friend that owns a sports bar and one of these, especially with a spare, would be perfect... Problem is I know he wont pay to ship 800 pounds worth of machines all the way across the country.
