Just back a generator truck up to the door and run some power inside. Tell her it's for the 99 cent projector you just got on ebay.

If you have 220 for the welder you probably have 220 at the main panel coming in as well.
You should be good to go, go pick them up.

That guy over on AVS is nuts, he's running it on an 8' screen. That machine would be nice and punchy on a screen twice or three times that size.

But then again some people like to watch with sunglasses on Wink

I read in his review that the pics were of a 15 ft wide screen and he said it was to bright.

Hmmm... I'm only about 80 miles from there. I have a truck and I love taking stuff apart. Is there any scrap value in it? I'd bid if I could get $400. back from parting it out...

haha. well. the wall we have is just perfect sized for the sony, coming in at just under 7 feet wide.

i'd hate to see what that thing could do to my wall, hahaha... all the paint peeling off of it. anyone ever heard of wall-burn-in, where the image gets burned into the paint by the blinding light of god coming from the projector? Laughing

You HAVE to buy it just for our educational benefit if nothing else!

Rip it apart and show us plenty of pictures. It will be fun!

I would LOVE to take one of them apart. I'm a little spooked about the stair crawler down the stairs.... and the thought of being crushed in the process.

You would only buy these if you could make money on them? Rolling Eyes

These light valves have been talked about sporadically for the last couple of years. CJ had an Ampro that he used to project on the side of a house. That guy on AVS just posted to say that with his new bulb he thinks he is getting 90 ft/lmbs. As Elaine said, they most likely don't work. If they do it is probably just a matter of time till they break, then it is time to scrounge for the limited parts. I believe there is some guy or company that does specialize in these, so if you do buy one then you would most likely want to give him a call.

response from the seller:
"One works very well the other does need some work. They used at a distance of about 110 feet and the size of the screen was 40 feet by 25 feet."

set one up and use one for parts? open a drive in?

You really don't have much choice. You have to go get these. You know you want to, why deny yourself? Gosh darnit, you deserve these, you are good human being who always sacrifices for others, feed your inner child. (Is this helping?)

Shipping is $100. I only glanced at the add, but it says pickup only. I didn't see where the shipping price would be waved. I doubt anyone else will bid on these, since these come up fairly regularly and don't sell. There is just not that many people that want to fool with them. Even the people here who have had them have gotten rid of them. I would let the auction run out and offer them $50 in a private transaction (read no ebay:)). It might not be to bad especially if they are correct and one is working. For neighborhood movie night, this just might be the ticket.

For fifty bucks I could leave it out on the patio and show movies across the street on the side of a house... have to charge admission to cover the electric bill though.
