I never even see most of these you guys post about. I think I need to re-evaluate my ebay notification/saved search for projectors. Anyone have some good search strings?
Not that I'm in the market, really, but you know.

I think that was a fair to high price. The machine had 15k hours on the tubes so their is a good possibility that it needs a retube, also with the blue tube not working that hurts the value a bit.
Unless you knew what you were buying it seems like a bit of a gamble, if the tubes were bad you would be out the cost of a good tested 9500 by the time you got new tubes and fixed any problems.
I think there are better deals to be had.

Yep, I passed when it went over $500. 61K hours? I'll bet more than one tube is toast, and the G2 is higher than useable as well.

I would agree, $1000 is a fair to high price. Buying that projector is definitely a risk, unless you could check it out beforehand.

I thought it wasnt too bad a price either and the pics of the tubes looked ok. At first i thought it was an AC 9500 but after he poested pics of the tubes and I relized it was an LC i decided to bid i didnt want to go over 900 but went up to 980 and then panicked and said S@$t !!1 I need that money for a blend unit! so i stoped short and bid the price up on the poor guy from 810. sorry who ever you may be

Btw.- they never made a 9500 AC

Based on that projectors vintage and hours in stand by, that price was pretty damn high...
I agree with Curt, over $500. was being VERY generous...
All of the tubes will have burned filaments(or whatever the exact term is for toasted due to high P14 voltage...), for sure, they won't put out enough light to use, guaranteed.
I'd also bet contrast was 100% when the pic of the hours was taken...

I had almost the exact same projector in my basement at one point in my life.
The tubes were achingly pristine, but alas, no light from the blue at all, and only very weak output from the green and red. When the green G2 was at 100%, and contrast was 100%, I could get just enough light output to read the hours from the wall, instead of from the tubeface, and the hours were lower than that one on ebay...
All three tubes were wrecked by the high filament voltage...but the phosphor was really nice...
IMHO, $1000. is an awful lot to risk on a tiny chance the tubes WON'T be borked
