I previously purchased my XG with what seemed like a fualty vertical output/horizontal shift board. Eventually I found out that this along with the focus yoke was bad on the red tube. I replaced both parts and the projector has been working flawlessly since last summer. That was until today. For some reason the red tube went blank then turned back on for about another minute and then went blank again. I can't say for certain as I was listening to music at the time but I don't think it made any loud noise but just a click. I can't get any ouput of the red tube whatsoever (including a lit raster) and there are no error codes on the back of the projector. I haven't stuck my hands too much into the machine because I wanted to get some input first. However, I did try moving the tube and it still seems to be ridged and not broken. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Swap the neck boards between tubes. I'll bet the red one died.

Curt,

Thanks for the help, you were right. Fortunately I have one spare neck board, however, could there be some underlining cause as to why I have had two different failures on the red tube? First the deflection coil and now the neckboard.

I would like to point out that when I did an initial setup back when I first fixed the pj I did a terrible job doing the setup. I just got tired of all the adjustments and ended up using point for most of the convergence and I pushed the point to its limits. Could this have caused the electronics to become unstable and eventually break the neckboard? I need to really fix the setup without using so much point convergence but I just get tired of messing with all those settings.

No, convergence and neckboards are completely separate.

But you are a VERY NAUGHTY BOY! Smile
