Full-white shows no color transitions, but less than ideal setup: I just rolled the PJ back and forth until the convergence was close then brought up the full-white test pattern.
Tonight I'll check P14, do a basic mechanical for as large an image as I can reasonably focus with 10Ls, and see if the ACON is worth mounting.

I've bought several retros that were in great shape. I've bought a number of non-retro's that were good, and two that were horrid complete piles of junk. | sounds like the retro's are a much better buy. The palletized PJ's I got looked like hell and were run really hard. Too bad those giant enclosures are murder to ship, makes it a stricly local pick-up type scenario.

Check G2 by ramping it up until the 0 and 10 IRE windows are just distibguishable from each other. A really good G2 is in the low 60's, high 60's low 70's is OK, high 70's is borderline and anything over 80 is toast.
Also, don't forget to set the color temp zones. Usually you want them all at default of 50 but typically you can bump up the corners to 60 for uniform screen brightness.

 | tell me about it, Every marquee LC I ever get has the dam 10L's on it. If only a good, affordable blender would come along they would be worth a small fortune. |
How much cheaper do you think blenders can go? If the TVone is around $2k, then I think that is probably going to be the limit at least as far as new equipment goes.
As for 10Ls, most of these pjs are being used on small screens in blending set-ups. I bet most of the VDC pjs are delivered with the 10Ls.

LAst I heard, the 7100 set-top box was still around $7K.

Well I went down to Mechanicsburg and got the other 9500LC retro. Ran into some problems at the GL warehouse but the site supervisor let me take her. 5 hour drive from buffalo with a friend one way, we rented a truck there. I was just going to rent the truck to get it out of the warehouse then remove the PJ and dump the case somewhere. The screen has a few scratches and I don't think it can be used but the case is a neat design so I decided to keep it and my Buddy drove the truck back to buffalo. I figured about 450 total cost with gas for both vehicles and the rental costs. To have this beast shipped i know would have been more and the drive is nice. Beautiful country through the hills and mountains of NY and PA. the drive through the tuscarora Mountains was really nice and I bet its gorgeous in the fall. Bruce wasn't able to get it so I stepped up to the plate and took it off his hands. Any one know where I can get replacement screen material and the costs? Not sure if I'll keep it of sell it I still have to see the tube conditions. but the case looks mint. Also there was a box of three remotes that look like basic operating remotes with n arrow keys if i remember correctly i was tired last night when i got home and really just wanted to rest. today after work I will check things out more.

Damn... I was hoping that screen would be usable. That "black matrix" material looks MUCH nicer than the typical lenticular lenses on consumer RP sets.
I'll start looking for large Lenticular lenses... I PM'd Bruce the exact size a while ago... I'll pull it and put in in this thread.

I have a large lenticular lens from a Barco retro 800 cabinet, but I have no idea how it could be shipped. What size is your opening? Any ideas on shipping this thing?

The lens is just under 58" wide, but I can't find the PM so I'm unsure of the height. I'll have to re-measure when I get home tonight.
A little figurin' shows the height to be about 32.5" for 16:9 AR, and about 43" tall if its' 4:3 AR.

Well I finally had a chance to remover her from her home inside that huge metal case. Checked the tubes look very very nice a very slight wear on green but not sure with the lenses on didn,t have the ambition to investigate further. Hours on tubes looks like 5500 or so but you could never tell from the tube wear contrast was set at 50 so looks like they were conservative in that regard. Once i remove the HD10L's and look at the tubes I'll be able to tell a bit more. it has the green C element also. Now I'm thinking of converting one of my 8xxx marquees to a 9 incher !!! Once i get it inside and into my basement i'll put it close to the screen and since the 10L's are only for small screens and see what it looks like, maybe next week some time. Looking for new screen i came across a company that makes a screen called the Blue Ocean Projection Screens. they make rear and now front screens that can also be used for out door aplications the rear screen is very thick at .87 inches!!!! They say it has an r factor higher than most double pain windows. I see an out door theater in the future!!!:O......well maybe

What would be the sense in that when you can simply run the 9500LC "as is" ? ? ?

I don't know if you've ever priced rear projection screens, but at one point long ago I did some research into making a "big tv" setup using the 3M "firescreen"(I think that was what it was called...) and it was thousands and thousands of dollars just for the screen material. Very, very expensive stuff. The "retail" value of that Retro screen is likely $5k.

Rejuvenating this thread if anybody is still following it.
A Sencore CR-70 tells me the tube is good. All that's left is the anode HV lead... I'm debating on swapping it with another just for practice.
