Personally, I'd do the greyscale without the RTC gamma in the chain. It may affect your ability to get black as black...and all your other sources would look too dark in comparison.

Mike, where do you have your brightness and contrast set to in these shots...and is this you in the last shot? |
Since I added the box 1021 Gamma boost thingy it's at 45 and contrast is 70 so nothing is relative. The grayscale is too blue, I probably will go down and correct it tonight with the Eyeone. The brightness is at normal I don't adjust the projector for the screen shots. Here is the data from that shot. Oh don't think I'll end the war just because someone with a 6 figure projector posts nice shot, perhaps a CRT insurgency?

Wow, this looks really bad. The camera seems to be creating this barrel effect and is adding some kind of splotchy look as well. I just wanted some shots from "before" I attempt the greyscale. Looks like I need help with the camera as well.

Your getting there, try backing up the camera and use less wide angle. Also try to lock the ISO on the camera as low as you can I use 100 ISO the splotchy look is caused by too much gain most of the time.

I think I am going to give up on the Spyder II and wait until I can get the Eye One instead. I spent about 4 hours working on the greyscale adjustment and when all was said and done I ended up darn near default of 50 on "WHT" adjustment for all tubes. Kind of felt like a waste of time really.

Hello,
I am new to this forum and to the use of CRT projectors.
So please forgive me for my poor knowledge.
I just received a brand old XG-1101!
Out of order, of course.
According to the error code (Fd), I have a problem with the HV board.
Do you know if this board is reputed to be weak?
Do you know what the S5501 and S5502 switches are provided for?
I also saw there where other switches, on the CPU board for example.
Where can I find the explanations for all this? In the Service Manual?
Can someone tell me where to get this Service Manual?
Thank you for your help.
Raphaël

I thought I would revive this thread because...well because I'm eyeing yet another XG projector. Can anyone tell me if the power supplies are interchangeable? I have a lead on an XG-750 but it might have a bad power supply. Not even sure what the tubes look like yet but if they are in good shape then I will keep them as spares. The outer case to the projector (which is all I can see in the pictures) looks about as clean as any I have seen. Of course the inside might be trashed. Just wondering if I should bother. It's about a 2 hour trip from me.

A 750 powersupply is only interchangable with a 1100 or 1350. It will not swap with a later model, the voltages are different.

Thanks Mark! I saw your exchange over in the "Glock" thread. Funny stuff! We have differing opinions on those things but it's nice to know we all share the passion of CRT. You have been of great help on many occasions.
