I'll be upgrading to a Marquee in a few weeks, but in the mean time I thought it would be fun to hook up my 1031q to the Toshiba HDA1. 480p is not a problem, but what about 1080i from the Toshiba? Will the little dude go *poof* if I do?

It accepts 576p also, so probably 1080i isn't a problem, long time ago when I tried

I ran my 1031Q in 1080i through a samsung 360 hidef receiver and it looked great.

Hey, sounds like I'm good to go with 1080i. I'll give it a try.

There is a thread on AVS about adjusting the "high frequency" pot to fix 1080i instability issues.

I've read that thread and adjusted the pot and I still can't get a decent 1080i picture from my Samsung TS360 receiver.

Utoh, sounds like folks are having spotty success resolving 1080i with the 1031Q. Maybe it's best to stay with a lower rez and enjoy.

Hello. Do not settle for less. My 1031 displayed 1080i and picture was great, it was fitted with color filtered lenses from nec.
I was using Extron 202 and had to shift picture to the right to make Sony synchro and played with the switches in the back. Maybe my 1031 was "special' 'cos I was using it for a long time to display 800x600 60Hz from my computer without any problems. Try 202 which also changes synchro to negative. It is worth it. Brgds, Robert.

Guys!
The 1030 and 1031 (I owned one) date back to the introduction of the IBM PC (the first VGA PC) and the color Macintosh, and these projectors were built in several versions; Sony tried to address higher horizontal scan rates, so some 1030s top out around 24khz (way below 1080i at 33khz), and if I recall correctly, the 1031Q5 did 32khz (on the edge) and the 1031Q6 did 36khz to accomodate the color Macintosh at 35khz.
