So, there's a G70 that's come to my attention locally that I'm somewhat interested in. I've got the Barco 1208s/e as mentioned and the thing is, I just bought new PT18's for it. But it seems that Sony's use Panasonic tubes as well, but I'm not sure if they're interchangeable. The G70 I'm interested definitely needs at least a new green tube, but if I can use my new PT18's, that'd be great. They're PT182XX's from a Barco 808LC.

But hey, more than anything, is this worth doing? Honestly, the biggest thing I like about the Sony right now is the fact that it's quite a bit smaller than the 1208s/e which would make life a bit easier. So to be concise, my questions...

1) Is it worth upgrading to the G70?

2) Can I use PT18X2XX's from a Barco 808LC in a G70 in any way?

3) How much do you think this is worth on the used market with around 6500 hours knowing it's going to need at least 1 if not all new tubes? He's got an extra set of boards as well.

I'd appreciate any other feedback on the matter. I'm really not that attached to the Barco so if you guys think the G70's a better option, I might as well go for it, but again, the tubes kind of make or break the deal as I can't afford to spend too much being in college.

Thanks!

No, you can't fit the PT18s. They have a thick neck. The P16s in a G70 have a thin neck.

If you 1208 has the 808LC tubes + lenses fitted, then the only real difference is colour filtering.

I would not do this, that G70 in it's current condition is worth about $500.
If your 1208 is still stock then simply color filter it or make it into an LC.
