Hi guys.

I finally got my black cased Barco Graphics 1208 (SEOS: Military Spec Wink ) by today after driving 2 hours back and forth and spending something like 800$US (hopefully it wasn't a bad deal to spend that much money, was it? ).

I haven't tested it till now but got some information from the seller who also showed me the projector in it's uncalibrated and uncoverged state (needless to say it looked ugly Laughing )

The seller also gave me a free VGA-BNC 5x cable 8) (thanks to my dad).

I've 2 questions/statements however:

1. How is it possible to feed positive sync to PORT 5? The seller did this and I was just wondering.
He told me that this is possible up to a non specified resolution. Is this true? Shocked

2. He also told me that I would need to config the tubes in the right order to get convergence (analog convergence setup). I heard of people getting convergence by only using the digital convergence setup (menue). So what's right?

I think you should read the CRT Primer and the specific info on your projector. Then return with questions.

Oh. Sorry. I totaly forgot about the CRT primer.

I've just looked it up and can answer one question myself now Smile

2. No analogue convergence setup is needed. All convergence is done through on screen menues.

Still puzzling how he got positive sync through PORT 5,however.

You will definitely want to read the primer and info relating to your model and set up. If you don't do a mechanical alignment (physically move the tubes into alignment), then chances are that you will be driving the electronics waaaaay tooooooo hard. If a proper mechanical alignment is done, then very little electronic is needed and thus that baby is on cruise control at that point!!!!!!

Enjoy!

$800. for a 1208 Seos is high IMO, I hope the tubes are minty for that price. From what I've read about SEOS projectors here the tubes, lenses, and convergence circuitry is tweaked to project on a really odd screen shapes at severe angles and getting them converted back for normal projection is a major project. I hope this isn't what you bought into?
Hopefully, some of the folks who have tackled SEOS untis will chime in and offer advice. BTW, you might want to add 1208 SEOS to your topic header. People don't always look at "my first PJ" threads

I forgot to mention. My SEOS is actually a back-converted one. It consists of all main Barco parts (including the lenses and tubes) and is capable of projecting on normal screens like all your projectors do.

The only differences between my converted SEOS/Barco and the normal Barcos floating around are:

1. No internal remote. Just an external one.

2. A damn pretty black painted case with a red SEOS text

@dochlywd

What do you mean with mechanical alligment? The one where I need to open the casing in order to do it or just some screwdriver work? It's pretty late in the evening and I'm a little tired so maybe I missed something.

Hi, Try going through these pages. They will give you all of the information you need to setup your 1208

http://curtpalme.com/Barco1208.shtm
http://curtpalme.com/Barco1208_Layout1.shtm

Download the install manuals from here, the install manual should contain the information needed for a mechanical alignment.

I hope this helps

Thanks. The manuals are exactly what I was looking for.

I think I'll config the SEOS/BARCO by the next weekend.

BTW: Anyone here running 21pin Scart-RGB sources into his CRT? I thought of getting a XRGB2+ in order to get my SEGA SATURN Version 2 PAL up and running.

interlaced PAL will absolutely look like crap. It's not even worth trying.

If your PJ had a LIMO or LIDO installed (which I doubt, since SEOS PJs didn't need them), you could connect the composite or S-Video outs and let the LIDO/LIMO do line doubling or upconversion.

I haven't checked for the LIMO/LIDO right now but I consider an external scaler/upconverter to be better than these internal LIMOs/LIDOs.

It seems the XRGB 2+ does linedoubling. Should be good enough, right?
