I can't really find a definitive resource on the matter so I'm curious if someone can point me in the right direction or explain a few things. I'm debating about how and when to upgrade tubes in this thing and am curious what I can put in it. I've got the 120 mhz neckboards (R762746) and right now I've got P16LNQ's.
On that topic, what do the letters after P18 and P16 mean? Does it ultimately matter? From what I've gathered, P16's and P18's are basically the same tube, correct? Though, it seems like I read that P18's were possibly higher resolution?
Also, there's the debate over to change out all 3 or just the green and maybe the blue. The green definitely needs to go and the blue could stand a change but the red is just about perfect. There's a full set of P16's I've been interested in but it would certainly save me a great deal of money to just replace a green and maybe a blue and being a poor college student and a music major at that (can't wait to live in a cardboard box...) it would certainly be nice to save a few pennies. Decisions decisions...

I belive tha p16lnq are sharpest one, high rez tubes.. it that correct?

yes - the PT18 and P16 are the same tube

If it's the same tube, why the different designations? There's probably some reasonable explanation but it's confusing to me.

The VDC guys say the PT18's have a thicker phosphor coating or something and thus are capable of slightly higher resolution than PT16's.
