Hi,
My Marquee has the following tubes in it;

Green PT22-19

Red P19 LPB 03 RJA (taken from a Barco 1209s )

Blue P19 LCP 09 BMB

From what I can gather, the Red and Green are hi-resolution tubes ? The blue is stock.

This won't cause any problems will it? Everything appears to work okay but I just wondered if I might have any unexpected issues.

The Red neckboard has been modded for the tube as below;

Is there any other modding the neckboard might need to take advantage of the hi-res tubes?
Thanks,
Paul

Hello

The PT22-19 is P43 and may give flicker issues, as well as lower output than standard green. Is it color filtered?

Hi Tim,
Yes, it has a green (and a red ) C-Element in place. When you say flicker issues, do you mean at lower frequencies like say 48hz or so?

The projector is currently stripped down for maintenance at the moment so I can't check the G2 settings but presumably that plus brightness will need to be increased in relation to the other tubes?

Is it just me or are those aquadag ground leads clipped onto the worng place? I can't find it now, but there was tech. bulletin that talked about removing the ground leads from the metal cage, bending the cage prongs out 30 degree's, and re-installing the ground leads to reduce video noise. In that bulletin i seem to remember it saying to NOT plug the leads onto any other place on the VNB?
If you look under the metal cage you will see there are 2 or 3 spark arrestors for safely discharging high voltage static build-up from the tube bell.

oh yeah, you should replace those 2 little blue garbage capacitors with Nichikon 160 volt 105c temp. rated ones. I just fixed a "soft focus" issue on a marquee 8500 last night by swapping out those peices. fully resolved scan lines @ 1080P on a 4:3 screen afterwards Thumbs Up

The 'dag leads are in the wrong place. They should connect to the metal plate in the center of the card. The spark gaps aren't doing any good with the connections as shown.

Well, thats interesting! This is how I received the pj when purchased. I saw the VNB was different when I tore down the Marquee for maintenance and took a photograph just to make sure I put the connectors back in the right place (the other unmodded neck boards have the connectors in the right place). I've had the pj running with the connectors in place as shown with no adverse effects - or at least none so far or that I know of Shocked !

So even though its a modded VNB, the connectors should be as per the stock VNBs?

Thanks guys, sorry to be a pain!

the mod in your pic simply moves the White G2 wire from pin 2 (stock tube), to Pin 6 for the LUG tubes and such. The 2 black wires should always go on the cage.
I also received a few Marquee's with the black ground leads plugged in like your pic. They were from an AFB where highly trained monkey's "serviced" a flight simulator Rolling Eyes

Thanks for that draganm. Is there any advantage in going from the quoted 22uf for these upto say 100uf as I've read elsewhere?

I have the 100uf's in hand and they will be a bugger to fit as they are much bigger than the stock 22uf ones!

Also, can you use non-polar caps in place of polarised ones?

I think the 100's are too big id go no higher than 33 and no don't use non polar.
