I scored the Terminator Extreme DVD.
It has 1080P on the second disk. Only thing is they want you to install spyware player and allow a connection to install a load of DRM crap Rolling Eyes LOL yeah I'm gonna let THAT happen. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

The DVD was a nice transfer though. I'll fire it up at 1440x960 this weekend and see how it looks.

Not bad for $6 bucks I guess. Thumbs Up

There are DRM-free rips of the HD version available for download on the Internet.

The Extreme Edition has some interesting footage that was originally cut of from the theatrical release. I enjoyed it.

I forgot all about that disc! That was 'back in the day' before BD and HD-DVD!!! I'll have to go find it and 'pop it in' the HTPC and see if it'll play.

Search "T2 Extreme" on Amazon. It's dirt cheap, now. It's a special edition DVD in a metal case that has a 1080p WMV-HD version on a second DVD that you can only put in a pretty hot-sh*t Windows PC (back when it came out, anyway). It was probably... 4 or 5 years ago.

HD DVD and BD was still a few years away and people were already getting antsy to get their hands on HD. Microsoft actually started putting out a series of movies in WMV-HD - Step into Liquid, Standing in the Shadows of Motown, and a dozen or so others. They were using it to push their WM9 HD (later WMV-HD, which became the VC-1 that's on HD-DVD and BD now.)

I remember seeing a screening of Step Into Liquid that Microsoft put on at a little trade show. They projected it on some wicked Barco high-resolution digital on what must have been a 20'+ wide screen. It looked pretty kick-ass (given that this was probably 5 years ago and I knew it was playing from a computer).

Hey, that reminds me... Anybody know if the T2 Extreme disc will play in the 360?

If you download the DRM-free WMVs and burn them to DVD-R, I'm pretty sure they'd play in the Xbox 360. I don't know how the audio was handled. I think it may have been down-mixed to stereo. Stereo is pretty pointless for a movie like T2 unless you're mainly concerned with the eye candy of it. My friend has T2 Extreme. Maybe I'll give it a try.

Cheap? I do not know anyone else with a custom-painted HTPC case. Thumbs Up
