I have not seen a PG, but I understand some of those NEC sets have around 12 fans? If that is so, it suggests the NEC employs spot cooling, whereas the G70 does not.
A G70 fan mod could be successful if more fans were added where needed (neck boards, convergence board), rather than trying to use the existing fan locations at all cost. This is a brute force approach, but I'll be willing to bet that 5 Papst or SilenX fans purposefully placed would be more effective, and less noisy than the three 120mm (works for the NEC).
Just MHO.

I'm going to add cooling to my Ampro 4000 shortly. There's only 3 fans, one in the LVPS in the back (tiny) and two in the belly aimed at the tubes. I'm finding that with the case on and the balcony door closed after about 30 minutes things start to get too hot.
Now I'm not taking fans away just adding them. As I understand it the 4000 is supposed to work on pressurized cooling with the case on. However I see substantially higher temp's ( I need to get a thermometer ) just by touch. with the case on.
I want to add 2 x 120mm fans right in front of the power supplys. One would be ducted to take the hot air out of the HVPS and LVPS and the other would open to the case internal's just to exhaust the hot air.
Will adding fan's to this beast help things? I can't see how it would hurt in this instance.
EDIT: Spell check

Hey Chris - Did you use the SilenX 14's or the 18's? Even the 18's are way underrated, I think after reading that thread. The 14's would be bad news for sure.

SC-
So I had installed the SilenX 14's. Last night I installed the SilenX 18's and ran the projector for 3 hours without incident. While I understand the risk of potentially creating an issue I would rather have the projector be more quiet as this is the largest issue I've ever had with the projector. The G70 still blows me away while watching either HD sports and a great HD action movie.
I will repost in a couple of weeks with an update, or sooner if any error codes pop back up. I'm hoping they dont so I can get a replacement Blue tube from Curt.

Cool. (Get it? Cool.) Heh, I kill myself... At least you're getting some resolution. (Oh, and again. Sorry, that was bad.)
