|
|
Hi all, I recently picked up an old ECP-3100 for $50. I've spent alot of time cleaning the unit (carefully), and setting up the convergence etc. Thus far, i've got a decent picture.. but I noticed the Blue CRT appears to have some kind of stain on the INSIDE Of the glass.. And there is a large amount of Glycol missing from that tube. Obviously the blue picture is really fuzzy.
I've found a few methods of attempting fungus removal, but i'm wondering if anyone knows where I can get a half-way decent blue tube for this projector? I believe it's the SD-187 I need.
Thanks!

If the phosphor on your tube is good, your better off cleaning that one. Since it's the blue tube, you don't have to worry about tinted glycol, just the standard clear stuff is all you need. I have one spare blue SD-187, but I'm keeping it, and besides, it has a ton of fungus in it right now anyway. I had a good spare, so I just swapped it to save time. Changing the glycol is not that difficult, if the tube is good, it's worth cleaning it. Where are you located?

The blue tube is the fastest to wear, so finding a good one is difficult. Do clean out your fungus if your tube is in good shape.

If you need a tube, check out the "ECP Boneyard" thread over at AVSforum.. theres a guy who may still have one left.

Great thanks for the responses - any suggestions on where I can find clear glycol for this tube?
Also having a real hard time finding replacement resistors - Radio shack is worthless nowadays.
I live in Portland, OR, USA. Anyone know where I can find electronic components in Portland? Also Glycol!
Cheers!
Matt
