OK, I've put a green into my Ampro 4600, the used one I got for $250 and while emission is good, there's contamination of the electron gun, and I can't get a good cutoff. (very light flickering and unfocused glow of the phosphor in areas that are supposed to be black.)

I've seen this before in other tubes, now I need to run the tube to see if it will burn off. I'm also checking this tube for the defocusing issues that I have with a new P43LUG tube I have here. Will report back.

Yes I did. Bought two. ONe was bad out of the box, no fault of Tubular's. Tubes are factory fresh Panasonic, with P43 phosphor. Waiting on the replacement of the first tube, (just sent it back today) the second worked fine.

Just thought I'd bump this. I had shipped the poor focusing new LUG back to Tubular last week. Got an email from Tiffany today, saying that they received the tube, they tested it, it was indeed bad, they are shipping a replacement out today or tomorrow.

Nice customer service!

One of them, it worked fine. THe second was defective, it wouldn't focus, and I've just brought it's replacement across the border yesterday. I'm going to put it into a 1209s, but it will take another week for the silicone to dry. I'll post when I get it in, I expect no problems though.

Well it was strange, seems like the LUG tubes show wear a bit more easily than the LJE tubes. I have only dropped one blue in that to teh naked eye had no visible wear (looking at the bare glass), but the wear area was clearly visible on an all white field on the screen. While the tube face looked to be a 9+, the wear on the screen was closer to a 7 or so.

Still a decent deal, but if anyone is expecting an as new tube for $250, then they will be disappointed. Still, $250 is a lot better for retubing an old set over $1650 for a new VDC one, or $985 for a brand new one from Tubular.

They do all come without HV leads though, so you need one of those before you can run it.
