I have searched the forum for tips to improve picture quality on BG1208 or any simalr barco but i'm sure i havent found all.

I am looking for guides to replace caps, transistors and other mods to improve quality that i can do myself.

Like this for example:
https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=206.html

Would have been great to have all these tips in the same place, right?

That link and Kal's on ringing are pretty much the only ones I know. The rest is just set it up correctly according to Guy's guide.

There is one more i can't find right now: the one with the resistor replacement on port3 inputboard.

There must be more to do? example: replacements of caps etc in hv module etc?
Simple component replacements on neckboards etc..

Or how to change lenses.. there is much one can do. All on same place would be nice.

So my 2 cents: If everyone gave their 2 cents as to what threads should be sticky threads, we'd have 26 pages of sticky threads, defeating the entire purpose of sticky threads. Wink

It would be easier just to start a thread like the lens thread. "All about Barco" Makes it easy to search for, add to and remember.

What might be easier is to have one thread stickied that had a link maybe to wiki pages that could be set up where people could post information on Barco's. The page could even then be broken down to address issues with the different projectors.

I have lately played lot with some diy mods to 120* non s series, but I'm not completed yet. Results are very promising though.

Mods include extra filtering for +-12 and +-5V power rails in every card in rgb path. I have also chanced every BSX20 transistors in signal path to better ones, that push BW before end stages up to +1GHz. Better transistors seem to need also different kind peaking circuits. This far I have by-passed switcher completely to see how good I can get driver and neck cards.

Sharpness is fine and no ringing anymore with 1080p72, but I still need to try to find source for residual noise. I have to check filament, 230V, 185V and 110V rails from neck cards. I have also upgraded power input main board to match 1209s schematics (4x 820uF vs 6 X 1000uF), but haven't tested this yet. Probably not much effect to anything, but I like to know...

Here is something about BSX20 chancing.

This one have been in hold, until I get front section to work good enough.

But he does have a good point maybe there could be a few stickys, like "Tweaker's Threads" then format it like this:

Barco threads:

x

y

z

Quee Threads:

...

This way, there is only 1 sticky.

Maybe it could be broken down this way.

1) Lenses.

2) Tubes.

3) Astig.

4) Focus and convergence coils.

5) Video chain.

6) Miss.

Things could be explained in general that applies to every PJ and then if there is something specific to one PJ that could be added. Most of it is already out there, it just needs to be organized in a way new people can find and understand it.

That's a good idea. If someone spends hours putting it together and then promises to maintain it, I'll make it a sticky! Very Happy

Another thought might be to have Kal link the stickies to the advanced procedure or manufacturers specific page.

Doesn't have to be me! Whoever manages and compiles the sticky can just add the links themselves. Smile

Hey Ile, how's it going? I have a spare 1208 i would like to experiment with, so if you have anything you can release it would be very fun Smile

Not sure what you mean.

Your BD808s have new style back end cards and port5 gives very good picture as is. Streaking is possible with 75 MHz neck cards, but that can be fixed...

I'm not sure how it worked but I think it was bypassing the internal switcher.
The picture of the final setup I saw had 5 extra BNC ports on a separate board
