The upper input slot on a Marquee projector, according to the instructions, is intended for the multi-standard decoder board. Has anyone tried a regular VIM in this slot? This would give an extra set of inputs.
The extra VIM I have looks like it would physically fit the slot, but will it work or damage something ???
Thanks, Mark

I don't think it would work. What would you do with the extra mini RCA plugs?
If you need extra inputs just get a switcher.

Being an experimenter, I dislike the idea of having an unused option port. On the other hand, the multistandard decoder won't help much; my Onkyo 885 handles transcoding and switching very well.
That's a good point about the mini-RCA jacks. So I assume the multi-standard board routes its RGB output through the backplane board, and back to the main VIM? That would surely limit bandwidth.
thanks, mhalsan

Hello
The backplane connections are very specific, it will only take a decoder board.

Shucks.
Thanks Tim, at least I know for sure.
Better to ask than break something.
