... to help update my FAQ. I am writing up an addition that covers the zillions of questions that I get now about:

'how do I hook up my multiple sources to my projector?'

I get about 3 of these calls/emails a day, and they are very time consuming to answer. BY adding some text and graphics to the FAQ, I can answer the question with a couple of clicks and a link... Thumbs Up

I can write the text, I need someone to come up with some simple graphics, a la:

http://www.curtpalme.com/CRTPrimer_19.shtm

Simple, and to the point.

Your reward for doing this?

Cash-wise, well, nothing, we're a low budget operation here. Thumbs Up

On the plus side, I can compensate you with a repair or some part you might need. Plus, your name will be in lights on the side, we'll give you credit for the graphics..Smile

Let me know!

Pick me, pick me! I'm a graphic designer who actually needs some parts!

If Joust or Zaphod don't want to do it, I'll definitely do it.

I'm hurt! So my graphics on this and this page aren't good enough for you? Smile

Someone else can make them for ya if you want, otherwise I can do them the same way too... (I used Visio - they're pretty fast to do as they're so simple).

Sorry Kal, have at it. I figured with the updates and stuff that I'm working on, I'd be putting a lot on your plate this month.

Continuation of the graphics that are already on the site is fine..Smile

No problems. The last few months were slower so no biggie. If others wants at 'em by all means go for it. Less work for me.

Kal

Guys,

I hope nobody minds, but I decided to run with this. I need some help from Curt on a projector and I can't afford to spend much money, so I decided to run with the graphics. I decided to try to take them up a notch from the established style (no disrespect for your work whatsoever, Kal - you do an AWESOME job with the web site.)

I'm about half done with them - should be finished in an hour or so... What do you guys think of this sample?

People actually call and write you about this stuff? Geez...and they just expect free answers? I don't know how you make a living?

ecrabb... those do look nice, the color adds a nice touch.

Curt,

Here ya be! The Word doc with all the JPG's in place of your graphic description text. The graphics have some "tick-marks" I was using to cut them apart (which need to be removed), the size and placement need to be adjusted, and I'd bet money you'll find an error or two. So, look them over at your convenience, make remarks, I'll tweak and send to you and Kal.

Hope you like them!

SC

PS - I added an "Example 10". It's my system. Wink I think it'll probably make a few people's ears smoke, but I think it's pretty unique in how I use a matrix switcher and transcoder. See what you think.

Nicely done! One critique though in example 1.

THe typical a/v receiver does not have video and Svideo to component conversion, so you'd also have to have video and Svideo lines running from the scaler to the receiver. I'd change the cable box to read 'non HD cable box', and have it and the DVD player run Svideo lines to the a/v receiver. THen run a video and Svideo line from the a/v receiver to the scaler.

Also, Figure 3: I'd add 'HDMI card installed in projector'.\

Example 1,2,3,4: Have the DVD player read 'non hi def DVD player' since the older scalers can only process a 480i component signal.

Example 6: The RGBHV a/b switch isn't labelled.

Very nice SC! I was hoping you'd take this on as I've always liked your graphics work. I'm the first to admit I am *NOT* a graphics designer. I just know what I like when I see it... Smile

Let me know when the document's done and I'll move it to the site as HTML ...

With so many new AV Receivers supporting HDMI switching, you might want to add an example like this.
